There seems to be a number of people in our society that when they hear the word Hispanic or Latino they automatically think illegal. I suppose the media is partly responsible for this. However the vast majority of Hispanics and/or Latinos are legal and comprise the 3rd largest minority group of voters in our country. Not only that, but they are a growing minority group of legal voters. It would seem that a political party would be forward looking enough not to pursue policies that drive them into the arms of the other party. That does not seem to be the case at this time in our history.

So, let's look at some figures:

Number of illegal undocumented people in the USA:

The Wall Street Journal, known as being politically conservative, reports:

Note that is all groups not just Hispanics/Latino.

Please ask an on-topic and intelligent question. I have no idea what people you are talking about. It is an open question with no identifiers.

What we need to do is to stick with the rule of law and maintain our borders. Just because a block of voters who are legal residence of this country want American to ignore the rule of law and our borders does not mean that we should ignore our laws and our borders.

Also not all Hispanics support criminal illegal immigration. Failure to acknowledge that is to misrepresent those people and the issue.

That is in large measure because of the various amnesties over the years.

According to NumbersUSA, 5,703,000 have been given amnesty since 1986. And of course each time we are told that will be the end of it.

Let me try to get you on the topic by asking a question that is on the topic.

    Q. What, in your opinion, should the GOP do to attract Hispanic voters?

You are right. Glad you realize this.

It is YOUR statement being questioned. No wonder you don't want to answer it.

Why, you never answer questions ... how about your try being on-topic and answer the simple question of what the GOP should do to try to win Hispanic voters?

I don't want anybody voting for Democrats OR Republicans.

Now answer Mark's question. It's a good one, on-topic, merely asking you to clarify a statement.

Well, that was not a rational answer. So, what should any party or group do to try to win the Hispanic vote?

I would say Hispanics want the same thing we all want: A growing economy and good jobs, safe schools and neighborhoods. Freedom of expression and religion. Also I assume they want secure borders.

    Ask them.

Now what is the number and who are the people that think all Hispanics are legal ? Please. It's YOUR statement, and challenging it is both rational and on-topic.

Lewis, I agree. So, what does a party need to do to win their votes?

It is not clear as he did not identify what group he is asking about and it was off-topic. Try to understand, we are discussing what a political party needs to do to attract the Hispanic vote. Got it?

If it's not clear why would you make such a statement ?

I am not a political operative, but I assume that emphasizing those basics listed above would be the best policy.

I do not think that any party should pander to them by blocking deportations when it is called for by law.

If the OP is read the number of illegal folk is given, though it is not an exact science. But the only numbers I have found deal with all illegals, not just Hispanics. Regardless, the topic is what should the GOP do to change the negative image a majority of the Hispanics have of them and their policies.
