The Iranian nuclear deal is a big step toward world peace, and Republicans would be praising it if one of their own had negotiated it, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul told Newsmax TV's "The Hard Line."

Paul told host Ed Berliner that the deal echoed Ronald Reagan's deal with the Soviets in the 1980s. Paul's biggest problem with the deal was that the United States had to work under the confines of the United Nations and NATO.

"There's something to be said about moving in the direction of at least talking to people instead of saying, 'All right, you're scoundrels, we'll keep our $100 billion we've taken from you and all options are on the table, like if you don't do what we tell you, we're allowed to use our nuclear weapons against you,'" Paul said. "The tone has been changed. It's to our benefit; it's to the benefit of world peace."

I've been against the sanctions for a long time.

And although I like Dr. Paul, the failure to secure the Amercan prisoners kept in Iran on trumped up charges makes this such a farce that not even he will change my mind.

It is the death warrant for Israel. Now the entire middle east will have to acquire nuclear weapons in order to try to stop the Persians/Russians.

Personally, I believe only time will tell concerning the Obama-Kerry-Iran deal.

So, it could buy some time and at least we could hope for an Iranian coup.

In the meantime Iran will be scarfing in the gigabucks with the sanctions lifted. This even has some Dems worried - what will they do with all that money?

Send out more missionaries of the "religion of peace"?

He's absolutely correct. The only problem is that no one outside of the folks "negotiating" the deal knew what it entailed so it wouldn't make any sense to praise it.

I distrust any deal of peace made by men ESPECIALLY in the Middle East as my Bible tells me WHO will bring peace to the Middle East.

Ron Paul is wrong. It's not a good deal for the U.S.

He is right about going through the UN. That should be a non starter, a deal killer for sure.

Iran just wants to be able to protect herself from the peaceful Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. I am sure that continued terrorist activities against the USA and Israel are the furthest thing from her mind. After all we all want to embrace her obviously non violent ways and pursuit of world wide peace.

The United States offered to increase the military aid PACKAGE it provides Israel after the historic nuclear agreement with Iran, according to a New York Times story.

President Barack Obama told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu he was prepared to hold "intensive discussions" over what more could be done to help defend Israel, ACCORDING to White House sources.

The nuclear agreement completed this week would lift sanctions on Iran in exchange for restrictions on development of nuclear weapons. Netanyahu has long complained that Iran's nuclear PROGRAM and threat to "eliminate" Israel, puts his country in a more desperate position.

Obama administration sources said Netanyahu has so far refused to engage in such talks.

Justifiably so. Why would he believe anything Obama said and why would Obama offer additional protections if he thought Iran would honor the agreements?

Fact is he knows they won't and simply doesn't care so long as he looks good getting it done. Legacy building is dangerous when you partner with the nation that is the single largest sponsor of terrorism in the world.

Let's see if the conflicts in the east increase once Iran gets its money back.
