SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church's push toward transparency about its roots and beliefs took another step forward Tuesday with the first published pictures of a small sacred stone it believes founder Joseph Smith used to help translate a story that became the basis of the religion.

Interesting: the stone helped transliterate King James English errors before KJV English existed. The Book of Mormon has some Old English idiom transcribed almost verbatim. What makes a stone sacred?

Joseph Smith Jr. is either a true prophet or a false. If true, we should all be Mormons--all others have apostasized.

An interesting surf: a listing of the property owned by Deseret.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Two Baptist ministers, engaged in ministry to Mormons, both recognized that more Baptists become Mormons than vice versa (by a long shot!).

Few Christians know enough about Mormonism to help others. One who did know was a Baptist lady who was able to explain the difference to the church organist who was ready to be baptized by the Mormons!

Few will take the time to learn the basics in order to be faithful witnesses. http://snowfar4.wix.com/mormonconfusion#!about/c2414

How is Mormonism Christian? They believe in doctrines wholly contrary to the bible.
The Book of Mormon is said to be another Gospel of Christ. Jesus and Paul warned about false prophets and Christ's, that preach another Gospel contrary to the True Gospel.

A link to the story would be nice.

    Cheers.

Amazing that they would admit to that practice but it represents yet another in one of several stories about how Joseph Smith Jr. wrote/translated the Book of Mormon.

Perhaps this is why we are told not to even wish them "godspeed." I also know some "Baptists" who became Mormon. I worked with one who explained that many noticed "Mormon" faith in action while they experienced their own Baptist faith to be dead. I think that we sometimes ignore that Mormonism is, at its core, demonic.

If that is the rock, it looks like it was picked from Lake Superior. A little bit of varnish added, and it would be easy to copy.

I thought that Joe said that he found it upstate New York but maybe he found it along the Great Lakes. Yes, that is the picture that the Mormons released.

The sheer tonnage of easily disproven historical error within the original documents of Mormonism is enough to disprove the entire sect.

Aside from the lack of any traceable data to show the second revelation of Jesus Christ happened, genetic studies have proven there could not have been any groups of people that Smith suggested in South America. Likewise, his use of Egyptian hieroglyphics is entirely erroneous.

Just a ridiculous heretical sect of Christianity. These "seer stones" don't help.

For certain there is a preponderance of evidence and/or lack of evidence that clearly exposes this large Christian??? cult.

One could make similar analogy to the largest cult called Christian: Catholicism, the roots of which go back to Nimrod and his adventures. This cult wound up in Rome, circa 4th century C.E. Most notable proponents: the Roman Emperor called Constantine, The Great; and his mother, Helena, aka: St. Helena, for having brought back authentic relics of Jesus crucifixion from the Holy Land. Seems her son Constantine had an encounter with a crucifix too: IN HOC SIGNO VINCES. The Emperor was beatified too; but he was not baptized until he was dying. The apparition of Connie seems similar to the one which Joseph Smith Jr. claims to have seen with the personages.

Why do so many millions of people believe such things are from God? They have been mesmerized by the Devil.

These are examples of people being given over to strong delusion, believing a lie--promulgated by the father of all lies.

Only God can call. Pray The Father will call the lost from the ranks of false religion.

As far as the statistics on proselyting are concerned, True Baptists cannot fall away--they are saved, sealed and kept by The Holy Spirit. The stats represent the many repeat after me salvations which is no salvation at all.

Seer stones--not sure about the scale--could it be a petrified gall stone? Joe and his dad were both into necromancy, divination and such. An interesting study: the biographies of Joseph Smith Jr. and Albert Pike of F&AM fame.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Mormon Church Releases First Photos Of The Stone Joseph Smith Used To Transla...

It seems suspicious for LDS hierarchy to attempt to suddenly want to be open. They have a checkered past about openness. The Kinderhook plates and the salamander story for a couple of examples.
They can change, whitewash, or just dull down the obviously occult, Masonic or unstable history. What better sounding way of seeming to change "policies" while changing the facts to make it more palatable.
Maybe I'm being overly suspicious but just don't trust them.
