Russia has begun its military intervention in Syria, deploying an aerial contingent to a permanent Syrian base, in order to launch attacks against ISIS and Islamist rebels; US stays silent.

Russian fighter pilots are expected to begin arriving in Syria in the coming days, and will fly their Russian air force fighter jets and attack helicopters against ISIS and rebel-aligned targets within the failing state.

Why would we protest Russia attacking ISIS?

How the US Can Stop ISIS Without Setting Foot in Syria

September 1, 2015 (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - Increasingly difficult to cover-up or spin, it is becoming apparent even in Western media coverage that the so-called "Islamic State" (ISIS) is not sustaining its fighting capacity from within Iraq or Syria, but rather through supply lines that lead to and from adjacent nations. These nations include Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and most obviously, NATO-member Turkey.

It was in Germany's international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW)'s report, "'IS' supply channels through Turkey," that hundreds of trucks destined for ISIS held territory were videotaped waiting at Oncupinar, Turkey to cross over into Syria with apparently no oversight by the Turkish government. Later, TIME magazine would admit ISIS' dependence on the Syrian town of Tal Abyad, just across the border from Turkey, for supplies and the significance of its loss to Kurdish fighters in sustaining their fighting capacity both at the border and beyond.

AP's June 2015 report, "Kurds move to cut off ISIS supply lines in Syria," would state:

I have to wonder how this is going to turn out. What if the Russians start doing what Washington should have been doing and start attacking "ISIS" supply lines "safe havens" and training camps the US and our "allies" have thus far failed to do?

What kind of an argument is Washington and the western media likely to put forward if Russia actually takes the fight to "ISIS" and does some serious damage to their ability to wage war against the "evil" Assad regime?

It'll be interesting to hear what the western corporate sponsored "regime change" think tanker policy wonks and media have to say if Russia does manage to "put a hurtin" on "ISIS".

I'll bet they'll be madder than a wet hen.

Putin Admits Russian Military Support for Syrian Army

Vladimir Putin admitted on Friday during an economic forum in Vladivostok his country is providing Bashar al-Assad’s military with weapons and training.
The Russian president said it was “premature” to talk about direct military support for the Syrian army but said Russia is “already giving Syria quite serious help with equipment and training soldiers, with our weapons,” RIA Novosti reported.

Putin added his government has not ruled out direct military support in the future.

He said supplies sent to Syria fulfill contracts dating back five to seven years.

Flashpoint: White House Confirms Russian Presence In Syria, Warns It Is "Destabilizing"

Two days ago we reported something which we had anticipated for a long time but nonetheless did not expect to take shape so swiftly: namely, that with Assad's regime close to collapse and fighting a war on three different fronts (one of which is directly supported by US air and "advisor" forces), Putin would have no choice but to finally intervene in the most anticipated showdown in recent history as "Russian fighter pilots are expected to begin arriving in Syria in the coming days, and will fly their Russian air force fighter jets and attack helicopters against ISIS and rebel-aligned targets within the failing state."

This was indirectly confirmed the very next day when an al-Nusra linked Twitter account posted pictures of a Russian drone and a Su-34 fighter jet - the kind which is not flown by the Syrian air force - flying over the Nusra-controlled western idlib province.

STATE DEPARTMENT WARNS RUSSIA NOT TO SUPPORT SYRIAN GOVERNMENT

The anti-ISIL or ISIS forces in Syria fighting to overthrow the Syrian government are virtually all jihadi extremists who have called for the establishment of a Sunni Wahhabist caliphate in the country.

The Saudi and Gulf Emirate funded and US-trained fighters, euphemistically called “rebels” by the US government and the corporate media, have captured much of the country.

In 2013 The Wall Street Journal called for assassinating al-Assad and his family.

In October 2011, after the US and NATO destroyed Libya, resulting in the death of 30,000 Libyans, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joked about the brutal murder of deposed Libyan leader Gaddafi at the hands of US-supported mercenaries.

“We came, we saw, he died,” she joked, paraphrasing Caesar.

What has been reported on since 2007 is now confirmed by senior US military leadership. The US created and now plans to openly use Al Qaeda to overthrow the nation of Syria.

September 2, 2015 (Tony Cartalucci - LD) - The Daily Beast's article, "Petraeus: Use Al Qaeda Fighters to Beat ISIS," reveals the final piece to the "safe haven" or "buffer zone" puzzle, providing the world a complete picture of how the United States and its regional allies, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan, and others, plan to finally overthrow the government in Damascus, and eliminate Syria as a functioning nation state through the use of listed terrorist organizations responsible for over a decade of devastating global war.

In Major Escalation, Washington Demands Greece Blocks Its Airspace For Russian Flights To Syria

Last week, when reporting that at least according to the White House,Russian presence in Syria is no longer disputed, we said that regardless if Russian troops are indeed on the Syrian ground, this admission that the current Syrian state of play "effectively ends the second "foreplay" phase of the Syrian proxy war (the first one took place in the summer of 2013 when in a repeat situation, Russia was supporting Assad only the escalations took place in the naval theater with both Russian and US cruisers within kilometers of each other off the Syrian coast), which means the violent escalation phase is next. It also means that Assad was within days of losing control fighting a multi-front war with enemies supported by the US, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and Putin had no choice but to intervene or else risk losing Gazprom's influence over Europe to the infamous Qatari gas pipeline which is what this whole 3 years war is all about."

Moments ago, following ever louder hints - if still unconfirmed by the Kremlin - that Russian forces are either en route to Syria or already there (Russian soldier's VK post stating troops are in Syria, intercepted communication from a Russian An-124 military cargo plane en route to Latakia, Russian Roll-on/roll-off ship allegedly carrying military equipment to Syria), the US made a dramatic diplomatic escalation ahead of what is now assured to be the second major showdown between the US and Russia in Syria, over a Qatari gas pipeline no less, when according to Reuters, it asked Greece to deny Russia the use of its airspace for supply flights to Syria, a Greek official said on Monday, after Washington told Moscow it was deeply concerned by reports of a Russian military build up in Syria.

War Drums Beating: Bulgaria Blocks Russian Access To Its Airspace For Syria Flights

On Monday we flagged a notable escalation in the build up to the geopolitical “main event” in Syria where, thanks largely to the West’s ambition to break Gazprom’s leverage over Europe, the US and Russia are one “accidental” run-in away from taking the “proxy” out of the term “proxy war.”

With the Kremlin now ramping up its military presence around the Assad stronghold of Latakia, the US is scrambling to do anything and everything in its power to slow the Russian build up - including putting pressure on Greece to deny Russia the use of its airspace for supply flights to Syria.

This isn’t the first time Greece has found itself in the middle of Cold War 2.0, as Athens (and notably Panagiotis Lafazanis) used Greece’s geographical position to field competing gas pipeline bids from Washington and Moscow during the height of the country’s fraught bailout negotiations.

So while we wait for Greece to pick a side between the US and Russia by either allowing Moscow to use its airspace on the way to supplying Assad or else snubbing the Kremlin and jeopardizing a potentially lucrative gas deal, at least one country has been quick to make a decision: Bulgaria...

US Seeks Occupation as US Fighters Flood Syria

US policy paper called for the occupation of northern Syria with special operations forces. Now Foreign Policy reports northern Syria is being flooded by "volunteers" from America.

September 8, 2015 (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - US corporate-funded policy think-tank, the Brookings Institution, published a June 2015 paper titled, "Deconstructing Syria: Towards a regionalized strategy for a confederal country." The signed and dated open-conspiracy to divide, destroy, invade, then incrementally occupy Syria using no-fly-zones and both US and British special forces is now demonstrably underway.

Austria Says Syria's Assad Should Be Part of Fight Against ISIS

REUTERS - The West should involve Syrian President Bashar Assad in the fight against Islamic State, Austria's foreign minister said on Tuesday, breaking with the view of most Western powers that say Assad is the source of the problem.
