This relates to a thread Reformed started : Is Our Nation already Lost?

And as I read some of the posts I was thinking, what were the pivotal years of our decline as a nation?

What significant years do you see as reference points in our degeneration as a country?

The theme of "Under God" may soon be expunged from our currency and Pledge of Allegiance. It has already been blotted out for all practical purposes in the lives of most Americans.

And then I notice (after-the-fact)that Poncho has a thread on "Mile-Markers."
I didn't mean to step on his idea. Although his thread is focused on a different kind of trajectory.

It's all good. I like your idea of sorting out specific years/events. Here's an event maybe not the first step on the road to where we are now but it certainly was a big one.

    The Federal Reserve Act 1913.

    Congressman McFadden's Speech
    On the Federal Reserve Corporation

Quotations from several speeches made on the Floor of the House of Representatives by the Honorable Louis T. McFadden of Pennsylvania. Mr. McFadden, due to his having served as Chairman of the Banking and Currency Committee for more than 10 years, was the best posted man on these matters in America and was in a position to speak with authority of the vast ramifications of this gigantic private credit monopoly. As Representative of a State which was among the first to declare its freedom from foreign money tyrants it is fitting that Pennsylvania, the cradle of liberty, be again given the credit for producing a son that was not afraid to hurl defiance in the face of the money-bund. Whereas Mr. McFadden was elected to the high office on both the Democratic and Republican tickets, there can be no accusation of partisanship lodged against him. Because these speeches are set out in full in the Congressional Record, they carry weight that no amount of condemnation on the part of private individuals could hope to carry.

All right. The year 1913 was significant in our downward spiral.

The year 2001 was significant in our downward spiral.

That was the year the neocons (formerly known as "the crazies in the basement") co opted the republican party and squashed the conservative limited government movement. That is also the year Americans were shocked, awed and fear mongered into giving up many of our liberties for the illusion of safety under a powerful new unitary Executive that wrapped itself in the flag and started us on the path to never ending wars, military interventions, regime changes and nation building experiments that continue to this day.

It's not like we weren't warned.

Poncho, let's take it chronologically. You made a post about 1913 being a pivotal year in the downward spiral. Can't you make any comments regarding the Woodrow Wilson presidency (1913-1921)?

I wouldn't be critical of the Wilson presidency, or Harding or Coolidge for that matter. I think the next indicium of our decline was FDR's New Deal, which was a mixed bag. It brought us out of the depression and without it we may have gone Communist. However, it brought about centralized power in a way we had never seen before and the centralization was permanent. After the New Deal, Washington was no longer there to serve us, it was there to rule us.

Woodrow Wilson? He was just the president at that time.

The real power lay in the hands of the private Federal Reserve board and it's collection agency the IRS after 1913.

After that it didn't really matter who the president was or what he did. Presidents come and go but the money men are always there, creating ever larger amounts of money from nothing and loaning it to the government at interest. To put it bluntly 1913 is the year American's and our republican form of government became enslaved by the money masters. All else is just politics to take our minds off the fact that we are nothing more than beasts of burden (debt slaves) laboring our whole life to pay the interest on the debt now owed to a group of private bankers.

THE MONEY MASTERS is a 3 1/2 hour non-fiction, historical documentary that traces the origins of the political power structure that rules our nation and the world today. The modern political power structure has its roots in the hidden manipulation and accumulation of gold and other forms of money. The development of fractional reserve banking practices in the 17th century brought to a cunning sophistication the secret techniques initially used by goldsmiths fraudulently to accumulate wealth. With the formation of the privately-owned Bank of England in 1694, the yoke of economic slavery to a privately-owned "central" bank was first forced upon the backs of an entire nation, not removed but only made heavier with the passing of the three centuries to our day. Nation after nation, including America, has fallen prey to this cabal of international central bankers.

Did you watch the documentary? There's plenty about Woodrow Wilson in it.

How about the Trail of Tears - 1830 to 1850?

I would say the 16th Amendment which gave the Federal Government the power to tax income was the most decisive of the "Marker Events"!

The Trail of Tears, while a great tragedy, simply proved that the concept of three coequal branches of government was, in reality, a myth.

I would say that your assumption is erroneous and here's why . . .

The Supreme Court is bound by the Constitution. In Article I, Section 8, the Constitution grants jurisdiction to the federal government to regulate three areas of commerce: “To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes” – in other words, foreign commerce, interstate commerce, and Indian commerce.

The 16th Amendment, the income tax, has been the subject of many Supreme Court decisions. The IRS always cites to the Brushaber v. Union Pacific R.R. Co., 240 U.S. 1 (1916), to inform the public that the income tax was held to be constitutional by the Supreme Court. What the IRS doesn’t inform the public about Mr. Frank Brushaber, the central character in the Supreme Court case, is that he was a withholding agent for several foreign investors in the Union Pacific Railroad, acting as their fiduciary.

The Supreme Court, obviously being aware of all of the pertinent details, ruled in the Brushaber case that the federal government always had the power to tax income as an excise tax and, therefore, the 16th Amendment is constitutional.

The Supreme Court then ruled in the very next case it decided, Stanton v. Baltic Mining, 240 US 103 (1916), the following: “… that by the previous ruling it was settled that the provisions of the Sixteenth Amendment conferred no new power of taxation, but simply prohibited the previous complete and plenary power of income taxation possessed by Congress from the beginning from being taken out of the category of indirect taxation to which it inherently belonged and being placed in the category of direct taxation subject to apportionment by a consideration of the sources from which the income was derived…”. The “previous ruling” cited in the Stanton decision was referring to the Brushaber decision.

A few years later the Supreme Court again ruled upon the 16th Amendment’s effect on the federal government’s power of taxation. In Peck & Co. v. Lowe, 247 US 165 (1918), the Supreme Court stated, in part: “The Sixteenth Amendment … does not extend the taxing power to new or excepted subjects …”.

The Supreme Court decisions above all inform everyone that no new power of taxation was granted to the federal government by the 16th Amendment. These decisions all inform everyone that the federal government always had the power to tax income from the beginning. Since no new power of taxation was granted to the federal government by the 16th Amendment and the federal government was held to always have had the power to tax income, then the revenue that’s being derived by the federal government from an income tax must come from one of the regulated commerce jurisdictions granted to the federal government by the Constitution – therefore, this revenue must come from foreign commerce, interstate commerce, or Indian commerce. After all, generating income is a commercial activity.

    https://llstuler.wordpress.com/2009/10/24/the-constitutionthe-supreme-court-the-16th-amendment/

In other words the 16th amendment did not give congress any "new" powers of taxation. The 16th amendment did not give congress the power to tax income. It only reaffirms that congress always had the power to tax revenue from foreign commerce, interstate commerce and Indian commerce.

The "marker event" then is how congress, the IRS and the lower courts have consistently worked together to dupe Americans into believing the 16th amendment gave congress the power to tax income.

    America : Freedom to Fascism

"I went on a quest to find out whether there was a law requiring Americans to file an income tax . . ."

America Freedom to Fascism exposes the fraud and deceit of the Federal Reserve Banks (Fed), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the 16th Amendment, the income tax, the Federal Reserve System, national ID cards (REAL ID Act), human-implanted RFID tags (Spychips), Diebold electronic voting machines, New World Order (globalization), Big Brother, taser weapons abuse, and the use of terrorism by government as a means to diminish the citizens' rights.

As I look at the decline of the United States, I find myself focusing on its moral decline. We can look at Abraham Lincoln suspending habeas corpus in 1863, the ratification by Congress of the Federal Income Tax in 1913, and FDR's New Deal in 1933, and have enough political fodder to start the Department of Political Debate. But these things are not necessarily moral in nature (although that can be argued).

If I were to look for a sign of moral decline I would cite the Supreme Court's 1857 Dred Scott decision. With their decision the Supreme Court validated institutional racism in the United States. More than just a judicial or political statement, it was a moral failure of the federal government.

The thing about moral failure is that, on the outside, no two failures seem connected. How could one make the argument that the Dred Scott decision is in anyway connected to another major moral failure on the part of the Supreme Court -- 1973's Roe vs. Wade? Easy. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, wanted to eradicate blacks from the United States. She was open to a myriad of options in which to do this. Abortion was one such option. With abortion concentrated among the poorest Americans, the late Margaret Sanger had one of her dreams come true. Whereas Dred Scott made blacks legal property, abortion took that to the next logical step.

If the Lord tarries for another 50 years, what will be the moral condition of the United States of America? I shudder at the thought.

I believe these are all moral issues though they do not rise to the level of Dred Scott or Roe v Wade.

Unless the country changes direction it will not exist as the United States in 50 years. Some states will simply secede and there will be no blood shed as there was in 1860-65 to prevent secession. This country cannot exist with the blood of more than 56 million unborn children offered up to Baal!

I do not know about the viability of secession, but I am pretty sure it would not be without bloodshed. Secession means loss of power and loss of power means loss of revenue. The federal government is a leviathan that needs to have its lust slaked, and revenue is one of its favorite libations.

Abolish the Federal Reserve and send the private international bankers packing.

Take away Leviathan's means of easy credit and he'll have to raise taxes to support himself and his policies instead of just running to the banking cartel to create more debt.

That should be enough to make big government really unpopular.

Shemitah, end of Jewish calendar cycle, spooks markets

From US to India, from UK to Japan, Shemitah (also written as Shemittah and Shemita) is now one of top trending terms on Google. On August 24 and August 25, on Google Trends search for 'Shemitah' had a score of 100, meaning 10% or more of all the searches from that region was for this particular word. A Youtube video on the topic that was uploaded about two months ago and deals with an impending financial collapse, has already been seen 1.1 million times.

Jonathan Cahn, a Messianic Jewish Rabbi and author of the book The Mystery of the Shemitah is also trending on Google searches, along with Canadian Jeff Berwick, the main character in the Youtube video.
