If he is so compassionate why would he go to a site of such tragedy if he is not wanted there by the mourners. It's a small town out on the back of beyond. They won't be left alone to mourn by the media. But why should they have to endure the threee ring circus of a presidential visit?

Well, that part of Oregon and south and east of it is pretty conservative and gun rights are big down there. They probably just don't want to hear Obama politicize another tragedy again and he's not king, he has no divine right to be there or anywhere else. Secret Service and motorcades can cause a lot of traffic.

Significant numbers are expected to attend a protest against what some see as Barack Obama’s attempt to politicize last week’s shooting in Oregon when the President visits Roseburg on Friday.

Entitled ‘Defend Roseburg – Deny Barack Obama’ – aFacebook pagefor the event accuses Obama of, “Politicizing the event as a conduit for increased executive orders on gun control via means of his pen, and his phone.”

“We need a lot of people. Please come show your support for Roseburg, not the little man who has no respect for the Constitution,” states the page.

Over four and a half thousand people have indicated they will attend the protest, although the majority of those are likely just expressing support for the cause rather than their intention to physically be there.

Still, with media coverage of the demonstration accelerating, the sight of potentially hundreds if not thousands of Americans – many of them Oregonians – vocally opposing Obama’s gun control agenda threatens to present a PR nightmare for the White House.

The fact that some of those protesters will be exercising their open carry rights is also likely to cause a security headache for the Secret Service.

Some protesters have vowed to turn their backs on the President.

Wouldn't that be something, a few hundred or thousand people turning theirs backs on "the little man who has no respect for the Constitution"?

It seems Mr. Obama is confusing Roseburg with Portland or Eugene. Further, small town Oregon is not the same demographic as small town Connecticut.

I do understand why the town people of Roseburg Oregon are upset. The president came out and made what happened in their town a political issue hours after the event took place. These people asked him not to come and he did anyway. Obama has done this throughout his presidency. He does not abide by the will of the people, he follows certain ideas that a small minority seem to hold. He might have gotten elected twice but if people in Oregon are unhappy with his views what might people in the middle of the country which are quite a bit more conservative think. Locally, where I live is very conservative and he would not be welcome either if a similar incident took place and he made statement like that. Most believe the right to bare arms would have stopped a massacre not let it happen. Incidences where a person is allowed to carry a weapon shootings are either stopped or just do not happen.
