Hello and welcome to Baptist Board. A couple of questions.

    1. As a Catholic, what has drawn you a Baptist forum?

    2. Can you explain how you believe someone experiences salvation?

    Welcome to the board

Just a gentle reminder. While you are welcome to participate, Baptist Board is not an ecuminical site. Please see Explanation on Proselytizing

    1. I find it interesting to talk to all Christians, as we share the same basic beliefs in Jesus as our Savior. I enjoy hearing the perspective of other groups, and I occasionally go to a Baptist Church with some of my friends.
    2. I believe that salvation can be achieved through faith, good works, and penance. Believing in God is the most important component of experiencing salvation. This love and faith in Him is what allows us to experience His kingdom for eternity. Good deeds are necessary to spread God's light to others and show your love for Him. Penance is necessary to make up for sins. This is because only those who ask for God's forgiveness will receive it. You must also be baptized so that you are cleansed of sins and show an acknowledgement of your need for God and salvation.

Thanks for your answers! I recommend you read:

Good deeds, baptism, and penance are not necessary for salvation. If you rely on those things, you are trusting in your own works and not the finished work of Jesus!

Welcome to the Baptist Board. I have dear friends in the Roman church, and I think I understand much about their beliefs, sometimes even more than they do. We don't agree, but we are friendly on those matters. Be prepared for some tough questions.

    From your separated brother ...
