It is incomprehensible that drug companies still get away with charging Americans twice as much, or more, than citizens of Canada or Europe for the exact same drugs manufactured by the exact same companies.

That would be another reason for lower prices here. If the government subsidized the R&D then we the people have already helped the drug companies.

When Medicare D was put together the Republicans insisted that a no bargaining clause be included in the law. This leaves the pricing totally up to the company and we see how prices have increased. Other countries bargain with the drug companies and they pay much less. Not only that, but it would save the government tons of money in insurance payments also.

I know a woman who has to have a powerful pain medication to be able to function. It costs $1,400 for a 90 day supply here. She can go to Costa Rica and buy a years supply of the same medication for $300. Seems our government congressmen and women who are supposed to represent our interests would do something to lower prices here. The drug companies have bee reporting record profits.
