    I was listening, today, to some of Dr. Bob Jones Sr.'s sermons. They can be found on Sermon Audio.com, and was often stirred by the Scriptural presentation.

    I enjoy listening to men of the past such as McGee, Ham, and others.

    What long ago preaching might you listen and be edified?

    I listen to sermons regularly (I prefer sermons over music when working out as well, more engaging). There are some preachers that I love listening to, but I have to take a break as they start repeating themselves (Paul Washer, Tim Keller, for example). I also like John MacArthur and there's there's the "Prince of Preachers" Spurgeon audios.

    I'll give those you list here a listen as well.

    I have a few that I listen to on a semi regular basis. One is the Church and Pastor I attended in my teens

    I prefer the long dead 0ver the near or the newer ones.

    Oliver B. Greene's prayer to "save the one closest to hell" is still precious to hear.

    Some young listeners, may not know that the "raspy voices" of folks like Bob Jones Sr. were the results of preaching in large assemblies with little amplification equipment. When Bob Jones Sr. started the little radio broadcast, he did later in his ministry, he had to tone it way back to a conversational level, and it came across as extremely effective for the radio audience.

    Hearing Rudy Atwood at the piano and The Old Fashioned Revival Hour always brings me a great joy.

    I don't because I'm too ADD to sit for very long. I have a ladies' Bible class that I run that has a podcast we need to listen to and it is SO hard for me to stay focused!!! I think if I were in the car a lot, I'd definitely listen but in normal life? I just can't do it. :(

    Vance Havner was certainly a word-smith.

    I don't remember Ken Connely, but will schedule a time to listen.

    What I do is listen by putting my telephone on speaker and setting it between my shoulder and the seat-belt (tucked under the seat belt between my shoulder and left ear - right side for you who have the steering on the wrong side) . That way the phone doesn't have to be held in place, I can hear out of that ear enough to listen, and still concentrate on getting down the road without running into everyone - just a few. :)

    Sometime ago, I gave a loud "amen" in agreement, and the folks in the passenger seat in the near car looked at me rather strange. They must have belonged to one of those modernist churches that raise hands and clap in agreement rather than the biblical way of saying amen.

    The only thing that puts me to sleep faster than television is an old sermon.

    I love listening to sermons online. I thank God all the time that I live in the age of technology where I'm able to do so!

    I must have the ADD too. I like listening to the recordings so I can go back and listen to the parts I zoned out on. I wish I had a rewind button during the Pastors sermons, and to be honest, a fast forward for those sermons that really hit home. :( Just kidding about the FF button, those are the ones I need to hear.

    Unfortunately for me, I do not have the time restraints of a normal life, and have to be careful not to become to OCD about listening, and burning myself out.

    I bet I've listened to the reading of Spurgeon's sermon "Choice Portions" at least a dozen times. When I ran I would run to Spurgeon or Tim Keller.....or Pink Floyd...both seem to put others to sleep but I find each engaging in their own unique ways. Biggrin

    How about watching a old sermon on TV, would that be the old two negatives make a positive, or just put you to sleep faster.

    Many folks with trouble getting to sleep will be envious of your personal cure for insomnia. :rolleyes:

    They sell FM transmitters that plug into a car cigarette lighter. You plug a flash drive into the fm transmitter in and you can listen over your cars fm radio.
    You can download the sermons and send them to a flash drive. A 2G flashdrive holds about 120-130 sermons....you can also delete them and add fresh ones..

    Do flash drives allow you to ignore speed limits? :)

    I have a wee little plug in my truck (ford 150) that I can plug my phone into, but I think i will look for that setup you were posting about. The only problem is when I leave the truck, I wouldn't be able to carry the sermon with me in my pocket and continue to listen.

    the first box on the left is an mp3 player...you could download sermons onto it.
    go down to the 6th box down on the first column.....that is the fm transmitter
    sometimes the mp3 player will play through the fm transmitter....

    When it comes to listening to these sermons I know a lot of people that do listen but even though I've tried, and some of what's said is thought provoking, I don't have the patience to sit there and listen all the way through unfortunately.

    I say unfortunately because I'm sure I'd gain a lot from then but my mind starts to wander after a while and I quickly lose track of what they're trying to say or lesson they're trying to teach.

    Yes I listen to sermons daily. I love to listen to Joyce Meyers in the morning for some much needed inspiration. Her sermons are so special and speak directly to the hearts of those who are in this journey for the long run. For the race is not given to swift...but those who will endure. I live by those words everyday and she helps to motivate me to know this is a narrow road and only few get to the end of the journey. I am in it for the long run and I am grateful for the blood and just knowing I am covered gives me hope. Really that is all some of us need is a little hope and love.

    Hey, welcome to the board. I have not listened to Joyce Meyers, but I have also found that listening to sermons in the morning sets the tone for the day (I was listening to Joel Beeke this morning preaching on prayer). For me, this practice helps set the "meditations of the mind."

    I listen to sermons by my friend's grandson. It is a pastor at at church in another part of the country. His sermons are always so touching and so thought provoking. I enjoy them a great deal. I usually listen to them in the morning when I am getting ready for work. They are always a great start to my day.
