Years before Donald Trump refused to attend this week's GOP debate, he lambasted other Republicans for doing the same.

Back then it was Trump who was set to moderate the debate, for NewsMax and Ion Television, and almost everyone in the GOP field — Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Rick Perry and Michele Bachman — who declining to participate.

"We're not seeing a lot of courage here, are we? Not lots of courage. These Republicans, they're supposed to be brave!" Trump told Fox's Megyn Kelly in December 2012. "I was disappointed in Mitt because I really thought he would go out and had courage," Trump told her.

He then heaped praise on her for being a great debate moderator.

Megyn Kelly: "Do you think you're a better moderator than I am?"

Trump: "No. I could never beat you. That wouldn't even be close. No contest. You have done a great job."

Video at link. The statements about Republicans not showing up for the debate as being cowardly is in the first minute or so. The part about Megyn Kelly being a great moderator is at the 2:29 mark.

Trump will most likely be at the debate. He is just negotiating. Trump is all about the "deal".

Donald Trump on Tuesday said his decision to skip the last Republican debate before the Iowa caucuses may have led to his second-place finish in the Hawkeye State.

"That could've been with the debate," Trump acknowledged to reporters in Milford, New Hampshire, where he was introduced and endorsed by former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown. "I think some people were disappointed that I didn't go into the debate."
