Noam Chomsky, the renowned scholar and MIT professor emeritus, says that the rise of Donald Trump in American politics is, in part, fueled by deeply rooted fear and hopelessness that may be caused by an alarming spike in mortality rates for a generation of poorly educated whites.

“He’s evidently appealing to deep feelings of anger, fear, frustration, hopelessness, probably among sectors like those that are seeing an increase in mortality, something unheard of apart from war and catastrophe," Chomsky told The Huffington Post in an interview on Thursday.

It is funny how liberals always see all problems as belonging to someone other than them. Talk about dumb.

Chomsky is a moron the left adores. He's just a linguist, but everything he says about anything is gospel to the sheep of the left.

I have know for several years now that this article touches on one of your great fears. You simply are not honest enough to admit it. So be it ... but "the shadow knows".

Also I have talked with too many people who admit this fact to think otherwise.

You know, the un and under educated in this country, especially the young are going to have a very hard time in the future. If your kids do not go to college, gain some usable skills their life will be a sad, long, hard affair.

This is not a new idea. I remember when I was a teenager an elderly man was talking with me one day in the churchyard after Sunday worship. He said, "If I was your age I would get as much education, college education, as others and then I would get a bit more. If you don't it will be hard for you."

It was good advice and it is even better advice now.

Be sure your kids follow that advice.

    Blessings.

p.s. I take the dumb label you gave as a large compliment as I know how wrong you are on this one. Thanks the the support.

Salty, I understand the sentiment. However I really do not think that plays a large part in Trump's popularity. He touches on their fears and angers. However, he never says how he is going to accomplish anything. I doubt he believes a lot of what he says.

There is a lot of white folk with a lot of fear and anger as they see the world changing and they are ill prepared to adapt to the new world. Indeed, they are ill equipped to deal with the world as it is now or even as it has been the last 30 years. It is too late for them, but it is not too late for their kids or grandchildren. They really need to motivate those young folk to get an education or skill that is needed. For instance, if I had a grandchild who had little or no interest in academics, in getting a university education, I would encourage them to get a needed skill such as being a plumber or an electrician. To go into our world uneducated and unskilled is to condemn self into a hard, poverty driven life.

Salty, long ago another person gave me this advice, "Learn what the rules of the game are and adapt you life to them. If the rules change adapt to the new rules."

Last night when it came to the wall - he stated that we have a large trading deficit with Mexico.
Evidently his ideal is to put a large tariff on Mexican made goods - which would make the cost prohibite - and less sales for Mexico.
In addition, by having less illegals - welfare costs will go down.
He also stated that when Arizona , ended welfare for illegals - and many left the State
by sending illegals back, that will end billions of dollars a year to their home countries,

Yet Trump is breaking all the rules - and keeps going up in the polls.

Trump is not going up in the polls. Eleven GOP candidates have dropped out of the race and Trump's numbers remain static at about 33%.

    Feb 15th - 29.0%
    Feb 24 - 33.6

I would say that is going up.

But lets see what happens on Tuesday.

There will be Primaries/Cacus in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Geogria, Mass, Minn, ND, Ok, Tn, Tx, Vermont, VA, Wyoming

How many States/Commonwealths do you think Cruz and Trump will each win.
Do you think Rubio will win any on Super Tuesday?
    Any other predictions

He just got 45.9% in Nevada. I predict that his numbers will climb even higher as he clears the table.

Trump is getting votes from all kinds of folks. He's getting support from the under-educated and the highly educated, small business owners and wealthy ones. He's getting white votes as well as a lot of black and Latino votes. He's getting support from across the political spectrum too.

Sorry, your OP does not address reality.

Chomsky is dumber than a box of rocks. Donald Trump is winning because the American people are sick and tired of politicians from both parties not doing their job which is to govern by the Constitution. They are there to serve we the people. Power flows from the people to Washington. People are tired of being lied to. They are tired of the Supreme Court cramming abortion down our throats and marriage that is contrary to the Bible. As a side note while the Democrats were the prime mover of both, on the marriage issue, Republican Justice Anthony Kennedy lead the five vote majority. In the 1973 Roe vs Wade, the vote was 7-2. Of the 7 votes, five were Republican Justices. There is plenty of blame. Donald Trump represents the frustration with being forced to vote for Romney, McCain, Bush, Dole, and Bush because the other is so bad. Donald Trump represents the frustration of trillion dollars deficits, no weapons of mass destruction, uncontrolled borders, welfare, Wall Street theft, declining morals, a lack of respect for our fellow man. That is why Trump is winning.

I think one of the real problems is people don't understand what Trump really stands for. Here is some insight in his own words. https://www.trumpquestions.com/

Trump is winning because THE MIDDLE CLASS is dying. The increasing disparity of wealth in the U.S. is more and more pushing former middle class families into poverty. People tirade against a transfer of wealth. It's already happened. In 1973 the real average hourly earning of production and non-supervisory workers was $21.84. Today it stands at $21.01. During that time period the wealth of the super-rich more than tripled. production-nonsupervisory-hourly-earnings-CPI-W-adjusted.gif
