    The debate between the free will of man and the sovereignty of God has been raged for centuries. It has been conducted by flawed men, who think they understand the inner most secrets of the Creator. If God had wanted us to know exactly how freedom of choice and sovereignty work together at the most complex level, He would have told us. The fact is no one this side of eternity will ever understand it completely. Now in our depraved state we have managed to come up with two man made standards, Arminainism and Calvinism. The first one is so ridiculous it does not merit discussion. There is some Biblical merit to the second.

    This is what we know. Man's free will is bounded by his fallen state. He cannot respond to the Divine on his own. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Christ chose us, we did not choose Him. We are all deserving of hell. We are saved by grace through faith.

    Romans 1 makes it clear we are without excuse. We can tell there is a Creator by observing creation. The Gospel requires shedding of more light. If a lost person is hearing the Gospel, he or she might as well be reading a Superman Comic unless the Holy Spirit enters that life and convicts that person of sin, and shows them a Holy God, and points them to Jesus Christ. Hate to tell you folks, without Divine intervention no one is saved. I am not interested how that lines up with this or that man made theory, but that is how I see it. The Lord supplies faith, salvation, regeneration, eternal life, a new life in Christ. Man contributes nothing.

    Here is a little scripture from Ephesians to go along with that thought... Brother Glen

    Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

    2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

    2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

    2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)

    2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

    2:7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

    2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

    2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

    From beginning to the very end, Salvation is of the Lord.

    6 being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ: Phil 1
