    Seems Impossible:

During the 3-1/2 years of World War II that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941 and ended with the surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945,
"We the People of the U.S.A." produced the following:

    22 aircraft carriers
    8 battleships
    48 cruisers
    349 destroyers
    420 destroyer escorts
    203 submarines
34 million tons of merchant ships
    00,000 fighter aircraft
    98,000 bombers
    24,000 transport aircraft
    58,000 training aircraft
    93,000 tanks
    257,000 artillery pieces
    105,000 mortars
    3,000,000 machine guns and
    2,500,000 military trucks

We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb and, ultimately, conquered Japan and Germany.

It's worth noting that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama Administration couldn't put a dent in the terrorist move to take over the middle East and exact mass killings of innocent civilians; build a web site that worked; stop illegal immigration; or show just cause for the increase in our national debt!!!

I think that it is difficult to make a realistic comparison between the Wartime President Obama with the Wartime President Roosevelt. Different time, different enemies, different world political situation, different technology, different attitude of the citizenry, etc.

You're missing a leading digit in the "fighter aircraft" category.

What is your evidence? If you would have written, "could not stop terrorists from taking over part of the Middle East, you would be correct." But we have made many dents (a number of them confidential) and they have not even come close to "taking over the Middle East."

When you hold no direct political power in those regions, it is difficult to prevent something that can happen quite quickly. There have been numerous massacres in foreign nations throughout history that American Presidents have not been able to prevent.

This is nonsense. There are many government websites that work just fine. I assume you are referencing the healthcare.gov website since it had a difficult launch. Well it works quite well now. I have used it myself and continue to use it until my new corporate benefits begin in a few weeks.

No President has ever stopped illegal immigration.

Most Congress has the power to control spending. You need to look to Congress for them to justify irresponsible spending.

Look, there are lots of reasons to criticize Obama. I happen to think he has not been a terribly good President. But your comparison of the current situation with what was probably the last large-scale "conventional" war is foolish and shows no understanding of world events or the nature of terrorism. Terrorism came to be the tactic of choice after nations and political leaders realized that they could never beat the United States at a conventional war. In fact, they took a lesson from the American Revolution where we employed unconventional tactics so as not to have to face the might of the British military directly since we had no hopes of beating them in a conventional war.

I get it. You don't like Obama. I don't either. But critique real things instead of making these comparisons that are irrelevant or downright false.

Did Roosevelt stop the holocaust and the killing of millions of Jews and the killing of millions of gypsies and Slovaks?

Did Roosevelt stop the killing of tens of millions of Chinese by the Japanese?

Did Roosevelt stop the torture of American prisoners of war?

You comparison is ridiculous in an extreme degree.

Obama refuses to name the enemy. Can't defeat them if you can't even identify them.

The way I see it. Those who want to "carpet bomb" ISIS and Al Qaeda are falling into the well known (at least among military historians) trap of wanting to re-fight the last war. The French did so in WWI and WW2. The Americans did so in Vietnam (and MacArthur in Korea).

Agreed, it is unfathomable to me how this isn't obvious. Kasich even said the term "shock and awe" during a debate. Have we learned absolutely nothing?

Mind you, I'm not saying ISIS\L, al Qaeda, et al shouldn't be fought. The question is what are the proper tactics. For one thing, said proper tactics are not the equivalent of lining up for a bayonet charge into German machine guns.

    ???

Shock and awe is still a valid strategy for most anything outside of peer to peer.

Actually, it depends how you go about shocking the enemy, just as long as they get awed.
