Yesterday, a Mr. Jordan Brown, founder of "Church of Open Doors", a pro-gay non-denominational church in Austin, claimed that the cake he received was written "Love Wins Fag".

Whole Foods has very quickly released a statement
“The team member wrote ‘Love Wins’ at the top of the cake as requested by the guest and that’s exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Our team members do not accept or design bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive. Whole Foods Market has a zero tolerance policy for discrimination.”

I don't suspect he will win.

Related topic, how can we get away from the trend of calling anything anti-gay as "homophobic", implying irrational fear of homos?

It seems to me that most gay people are severely heterophobic. Biggrin

    Lefties love catchy deceptive labels.

"Love Wins Fag" doesn't even make sense. Why did he have "Love Wins" put on a cake? Why did he not do like every other person who gets a custom cake made and look at the writing? Every bakery I've ever been in has had you look at the writing to be sure it was correct before you left the shop because they could fix any errors in printing. Why did he not look when he was in the store? This is really highly suspect.

And this is what I was going to say. That's standard practice at every bakery that you request something be written on the cake.

And frankly, on my screen, I'm seeing two different thicknesses for the writing. The "Love Wins" lines are much thicker than the lines in the slur as though the slur was added with a different decorating bottle.Sneaky The spacing is also different on the first two words and the slur which leads me to believe the slur was added afterwards.

The first time I looked at that stupid cake, I wondered why the icing around the outside of the cake was that purplish color and the writing another color. When I look closely at the cake, I see hints of the purple underneath the bluish writing color as though someone traced over the original "Love Wins".

He says "when I got into my vehicle, I saw that they had written ""Love wins F#G"". Then why didn't you take the cake back immediately instead of talking about "I attempted to call"?Sneaky

And what does he mean by I "attempted to call" and then going right into "I spoke to"?O O
He obviously DID call them and spoke to someone.

He can go sit down in the corner with Donald Trump.

Also just read that the person who prepared the cake is a member of the LGBT community.Whistling

Brown is suing Whole Foods for intentional infliction of emotional distress. He says the slur on the cake has dredged up painful memories.

Says the pastor, “The feeling that I had just resurfaced a bunch of painful memories of things that have happened to me.”Rolleyes

Sure did. I wonder if this is personal and he is trying to get back at someone in the store? All of the Whole Foods stores I've ever been to seem to be very peace, hippy-ish, progressive, green, and pro-LGBT.

There are a lot of other chains he could have gone after in Texas who aren't so progressive when it comes to LGBTs.

If it bothers him so much he shouldn't have added it after he left the store.

Hope the store can prove it, and then turn it around and sue him for attempting to harm their business

Totally off-topic, but why in the world do people film video with their phone in portrait orientation?!

For Pete's sake, tilt your phone so it's horizontal. We might want to see the whole picture!!

(We now return you to the thread.)

I do not buy his story.

As for the box still being sealed...easy enough to peel and reseal.

Whole Foods had better get their security camera footage.

I'd love nothing more than for Whole Foods to crush this guy with a defamation lawsuit. Yeah. I said it. I'm TIRED of seeing Sodomites using the courts to crush people. Time for them to get a taste of their own medicine.

We can't. In reality it is an expression of fear emanating from the gay community.

You kind of figured out that this whole thing wasn't on the up and up (from the plaintiff's side) when Whole Foods quickly responded and noted the team member who made the cake is part of the Austin LGBTQ community. The larger question now is how will the plaintiff be treated and received in said community?
