One data point does not speak for the entire world. Computer models have predicted extremes in both directions, so it is not surprising that one or more places were colder than normal. However the total is hotter than normal and the trend continues. Except for one week we have a warmer winter than what was normal for here. We are told that if the warming of our world continues that lilacs will not long continue to bloom here.

I don't know if you are aware that birds that like warmer weather are gradually moving north. That is a pretty good indicator that things are changing.

    From:https://www.sciencenews.org/blog/wild-things/southern-birds-may-be-moving-your-winter-backyard

To get a good look at the effects of climate change, look no further than your own backyard: There might be some unexpected birds among the flock you’re used to seeing hovering around the birdfeeder, lured north by winter’s warmer temperatures. A new study finds that warm-adapted species — birds that prefer the warmer winters typically found in southern states, such as cardinals andCarolina wrens — are now wintering farther north than they did 20 years ago.

One of the best fingerprints of global warming is thepoleward movement of the world’s animals. But few studies have looked at more than a single species at a time.

To see what was happening to 38 species of birds across eastern North America, University of Wisconsin-Madison wildlife biologists Benjamin Zuckerberg and Karine Princé analyzed two decades of data from Project FeederWatch. This citizen-science project from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology collects reports of bird sightings at backyard feeders from early November to late April. There are currently more than 10,000 participating sites in the United States and Canada, where volunteers count and record birds at a feeding station over two-day periods throughout the winter.

Oh the horror! We need Babylon to take over the world and rebuild its Hanging Gardens before we let a tragedy like that strike!

El Nino Still Strengthening, Likely Into Spring 2016, NOAA Says

"....Looking at past moderate-strong El Ninos, here are the upshots for temperatures and precipitation from late fall through winter in the U.S.:

    - Wetter: Southern U.S. from California to the Carolinas then up parts of the East Coast

    - Drier: Parts of the Ohio Valley, Great Lakes, Northwest and Northern Rockies

    - Cooler:Desert Southwest, Southern Plains, northern Gulf Coast

    - Warmer: Northern tier of states from the Pacific Northwest to the Northern Plains, Great Lakes, and Northeast..."

It was hot and dry here in April and I sorely missed my tiller which was in the shop. Now it's May and I've my tiller back but it's turned wet and cold and I've not been able to till. El Nino really messed up the morel season here too.

It is a good show that the government is using the RICO laws to prosecute climate change deniers and imprison them.

MIT recently hosted a conference show the links between Islamophobia and climate warming so the best minds are hard at work on this issue.

One solution to the problem seems to be to raise taxes and vote Democrat.

One of the challenges of a lot of the global warming discussions is that we don't have long term (by that I mean several centuries) of climate data. It could be that we are going through a natural warming period that occurs every so couple of hundred years and is in not massive climate shifts. Just like we see regional droughts followed by wetter years, so too the larger macro-climate view is likely cyclical. Scientists and climatologists seem to ignore this discussion and possibility.

Global Warming might not be all bad. The ice is still on the local lakes in my family's bit of Northern Sweden.

It was snowing this morning as I drove to work. It was warm snow. Perhaps the warmest snow I remember in May. We got about 6 inches one June when I was a kid. The "experts" were saying that was evidence of the coming Ice Age.

Saturday night here was very cool with temperatures in the high 30s.

Nevertheless, just to be on the safe side, we need to raise taxes to keep it from getting hot in the next three or four months. Higher taxes will allow us not only to control global temperatures but also to control the temperature of the universe.

And this means what? This means cow flatulence is killing the planet? Does it mean our SUV's are Satanic?

So what if it gets warmer?

Life thrives better in warmer climates than cold ones anyway.

Humans were made for tropical climates.

    So what is your point?

Lol, I've never been able to figure what exactly is wrong with it getting warmer. The wealthy elite might lose some of their beachfront properties?

It's somewhat ironic that while the globe as a whole is showing significant warming, the Northeast has run colder and snowier than average in most recent winters. Even this past very mild winter had above average snowfall for the DC to NYC area (while northern New England's ski areas were getting skunked.) One facet of the warming has been an increase in total precipitation in many places (not the American West!), so areas that average well below freezing during the winter months are apt to have at least a temporary boost in snowfall.

It is also worth noting that the graph in the OP is specious at best. It uses a small scale increments, with ridiculous coloring, to attempt to convey something that isn't actually the case. It is jaundiced from the get go. I'm still trying to figure out how half degree increase over 10 years is HOT.

Wow. I never realized it was so dire. The temperature has risen by roughly one degree in 140 years! At this rate, the earth will be uninhabitable in less than a million years!

This also reminds me of the scare of Andromeda. Of we don't do something, we're going to collide in 2.3 billion years. So, I'm going to try and get the government on that, too.

Look, either God is in control, or He isn't. I believe He is. Climate change is nothing to Him.

Now, on the other hand, if there were no God, we'd all evolve and adapt. At the slow rate of increase, surely evolution would take care of us, right?

Either way, there's no reason for alarm other than a controlling agenda.

Well, maybe the braggadocio creator (Al Gore) of the internet was right about global warming (oops - I mean climate change) - after all he possessed enough grey matter to invent the World Wide Web.
