I have noticed there is a lot of misunderstanding of Marx and Communism posed on the board. Here is a link to a Yale University lecture on Marxism. All the lectures in the course can be viewed on Your Tube.

No, I am not. But I do see there is much misunderstanding and ignorance on the BB about Marx. I assume you realize that what passes for Communism in the former USSR and is called Communism in China would have been rejected by Marx as not Communism or Marxist.

Did you watch or listen to the lecture?

I use a bluetooth headphone to listen as I go about other tasks around our cottage.

I also listened to one on "Arguments for the existence of a soul". It is very interesting and I plan on listening on the other lecture in this course. Listening to the first lecture made me realize how superficially, I and almost all of us think about this topic.

Why do you care, unless it's to raise one's esteem of Marx?

In the same way that learning about Copernicus and Galileo is to raise one's esteem about heliocentrism.

Why would it necessarily raise a person's esteem of Marx?

Perhaps you could tell us specifically what comments you saw that lead you to believe we need to be educated on the subject.

Watch or listen to he lecture. In fact, listen to several of the lectures and then watch comments on the board. You will figure it out.

. . . or learning about Einstein and Hawking raises one's esteem of the geocentric model.

Crabtkwnboy, I asked an honest question. Watching your video could not possibly answer it.

Unless this was just for purposes of proselytizing. You do love government control, dont you ?

I gave you the answer I gave you. Live with it, that is my answer. Do some study on your own. I will not go back through threads for your an answer to your inane question. Watch the video. Go back through the threads and find out for yourself.

Not will I answer your inane questions such as in your second paragraph. Live with it and grow up and discuss rationally and intelligently. Thanks in advance.

    Blessings.

I can have an intelligent conversation about Marx AND Marxism without watching a video.

If you wanted us to attend a class and shut up you should have put this in the history forum.

Since this is a discussion thread,, I would like to discuss. And leave out the nastiness.

Ok, let's begin. Where Marx's thoughts on Capitalism?

Political and economic philosophy is philosophy not history.

    I wish you would.

Ok. I asked you a specific question that you don't want to answer. Duly noted.

Marx was highly critical of capitism. He wrote numerous pages denouncing it. He said manufacturers take advantage of workers. He did recognize it as a necessary step towards socialism. He obviously misunderstood capitalism.

I think Marx was a real bad guy, responsible for millions of deaths. But his greatest accomplishment has to be the remnants of Intellectual low testosterone feminized men who still apologize for him.

    Agree or disagree ?

    I agree.

Most of this paragraph is simply an irrational rant not worthy of being in a discussion.

Do you agree that Marx would not consider Chna or the former USSR as truly Marxist or Communist?[/QUOTE]
