    Donald Trump is postponing his Friday plans to introduce his vice presidential running mate, he announced Thursday evening, citing the deadly attack in Nice, France as the reason for the delay.

    On Twitter and in television interviews on Fox News Channel, Trump said it would not be appropriate to follow through with plans to unveil his running mate on Friday morning. He also said he has not made a "final, final" decision who that person will be, even as public scrutiny was squarely on Indiana Gov. Mike Pence for much of the day.

    Prior to the postponement, attention was focused squarely on Pence. Allies of Pence and Trump have sent increasingly strong signals that Pence would be Trump’s pick, but the campaign gave no official word.

    "I haven’t made my final, final decision. I mean, I’ve got three people that are fantastic," Trump told Fox News.

    OK, I have mixed feelings on this.

    Is this the proper thing to do? Do we allow terrorist attacks in other countries to dictate our lives and schedules here in the U.S.? Are you going to work tomorrow? I know I am.

    What would be wrong with having a moment of silence followed by a short speech against terrorism, then announcing the VP pick and then outlining how you would fight terrorism as President? Seems like a win-win to me.

    The cynic in me is saying Trump is delaying the announcement because he wants maximum media coverage and doesn't want the terror attack to overshadow his announcement.

    Someone make the case that Trump is correct in postponing his announcement.

    This is the second time Trump has done something like this and it out of respect to the loss of life and the gravity of the event. I fully support it and believe it shows a level of class not found since Bush.

    That's EXACTLY what it is. HE doesn't want anyone stealing his thunder. You know and I know it. And a host of other folks would also know it if they weren't trying to find ways to feel good about the anti-Christ that is Donald Trump.

    What difference does it make? He can announce his vp whenever and wherever he wants to. For any reason or no reason. It's his announcement to make. We don't have a say in it, and shouldn't.

    Quit whining.

    Man you've been whining the last 8 years. And it jumped to overdrive whining when you figured Hillary was gonna be the Dem nominee for President.

    Y'all stuck on a bunch of emails and got the audacity to say someone else is whining.:Rolleyes

    I'm certainly no Trump fan by a long shot - although calling him the antiChrist is a tad odd - but I watched that last night and AS someone who is leary of Trump and as a cynical person, I got the impression that he legitimately wanted to show respect at this time.

    Just my take. I felt it was the right thing to do.

    The delay in the announcement should come as a pleasant surprise to the those who don't think Mr. Trump has a diplomatic bone in his body.

    At first I thought he was being deferential and diplomatic, but the more I think about it, it seems to show indecisiveness. He announces he will name his VP choice on Friday morning, then after events in France he postpones it until.....when? I would think his campaign would want to use the announcement as a springboard for photo-ops and campaign coverage over the weekend leading up to the RNC. He could bury Hillary with press coverage.

    I say he should have stuck with his schedule and used the opportunity to announce his pick and then describe what he would do to fight terrorism. He would have a nationwide audience on all news networks (CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc.), and probably all regular networks (CBS, NBC, ABC).

    Remember back in 2008 campaign when the market was crashing? John McCain suspended his campaign and flew back to Washington D.C. because of the crisis. He was widely criticized for doing so. Meanwhile Obama kept on campaigning and the perception was that McCain was panicking (what's one senator going to do about the situation anyway?) whereas Obama showed steadiness and resolve.

    Announcing your VP pick is a game changing event. Delaying it because of a terror attack in another country seems to be allowing terrorism to set your schedule. What type of an event would NOT get rescheduled due to an attack like the one yesterday? For example, would it be considered diplomatic to reschedule:

    * the acceptance speech at the national convention?
    * election day?
    * the inauguration?
    * the State of the Union address?

    This thread is a hoot. Lets see who is holier, the Republicans or Democrats. They are equally evil. And it amazes me that four years ago the ease that those in this section voted for a member of a cult that denies the deity of Christ and did a 180 on abortion, gay rights, gun control and government run health insurance. So for all those that wasted a good vote on that creep, enjoy your crow. Another thing that never gets mentioned here is the Republican role in abortion and gay marriage legalization. In 1973, the Supreme Court voted 7-2 to legalize abortion. Of those seven votes, five, yes five were Republican justices. In the gay marriage ruling last June, it was a 5-4 decision. A Republican justice, named Anthony Kennedy, lead the majority and wrote the opinion. So much for the party of McConnell, McCain, and Romney. Wonder why oh Jeb did not make it even with the family name.

    Having said all of that, I am voting for the Trump Pence ticket. I do not know where the originator of this thread thought something was amiss with the VP. You really need to stop watching CNN and FOX. The reason I am voting for Trump is because the Republican establishment hates him. Trump can make a fresh start. I decided to vote for him the day Romney made that nasty speech about him. What is really unbelievable is all the voters on this thread that are essentially exactly like the Democrats, they support the establishment Republicans. For those that do not see a difference between the Republican tickets since Bush 1 and this Trump-Pence ticket, then I would suggest an eye and brain exam.

    Hi Saturneptune. You voted for Romney four years ago. How is that crow tasting?

    Sure, make the same mistake again. Because Trump is not evil. Trump has not flip-flopped on abortion (health care, Iraq, gun control, etc. etc.)

    I said the postponement of Trump's announcement of Pence (if it is Pence) was the problem. But if you want to talk about Pence caving in and reversing course on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, we can talk about that.

    I don't watch CNN and Faux News.

    The Republican establishment is throwing a big party for Trump next week in Cleveland where they are welcoming him with open arms. Do try to keep up.

    First thing is this is not SN. Secondly you do not know who I voted for. I can see from your post you have an imaginary gap between the two parties. Have you ever read the Constitution? I do not base a vote on VP, but no doubt you think Christie would be better. Maybe he can be Secretary of Transportation.

    This one line on Twitter makes this thread ridiculous.
    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump

    I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Governor Mike Pence as my Vice Presidential running mate. News conference tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.

    9:50 AM - 15 Jul 2016

    As far as the Act you cited, Pence had the courage to sign it. I do not know if he caved in or not. No where in the Constitution is sexual orientation rights mentioned. Only because of freedom of religion in this country are mosques allowed in the United States. And yes, I am for the wall on the southern border and deporting all Muslims that are not citizens back to their home country.
