Within the space of less than 24 hours Donald Trump has flip-flopped on one of the attributes he's looking for in a vice presidential running mate.

    Yesterday:
Donald Trump is looking for a running mate who can be a “fighter skilled in hand-to-hand combat” to help him parry criticism on the campaign trail, and he has narrowed his list to a handful of seasoned politicians.

The New York businessman has said he wanted a seasoned government leader as a running mate. But in the interview, on the way to events with Mr. Pence in Indiana, Mr. Trump added a new criterion: He wants an attack dog.

“I’m getting attacked from all sides,” he said.

Having a staunch critic of the Democratic ticket would give Mr. Trump room to show he can be presidential, said one person familiar with the situation, rather than attacking his rivals as he did during the primaries.

    Today:
Donald Trump sat down with Bret Baeir on Special Report for a wide-ranging interview ahead of next week's Republican National Convention.

Trump's VP shortlist has reportedly been narrowed down to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

He added that he's "not looking for an attack dog."

Doesn't matter, apparently. He doesn't want one today. Check with him tomorrow.

The accusation in the OP is that he flip flopped, in 24 hours , at that. Yours is that he will change again by tomorrow.

I don't believe he ever said it in the first place. I'd like to see the quote. It's in quotation marks in the title. That means there has to be a quote.

    Where is it?

Trump didn't say it to begin with. The Wall Street Journal did.

Well, Pence is certainly no attack dog--he is more of a retreat dog.

Oh, the reference is to Pence's retreat from a law to protect religious liberty, which he at first supported and then forced to have repealed. Curiously, gays have had a non-stop campaign to dump Pence and conservatives consider Pence a quisling. Pence may not even be able to carry Indiana, although the farm vote is for Trump because of the ethanol mandate.

Also, Evan Bayh decided to run for Senator and his coattails may be enough to pull all of Indiana, which went for Obama in 2008 even without Evan on the ticket. Evan is perhaps the most popular person in Indiana even though he is very liberal on all things, which he hides in public. At any rate, Pence backs down when confronted by gays. Former Gov. Mitch Daniels probably is calling the shots in the Hoosier GOP from his office as President of Purdue University.

    That's so what.
