Has Anyone Heard of Landover Baptist Church?

    I came across their website by accident. This has got to be a joke or a satire. They appear very strict, but have vulgarities all through their threads. One thread was titled "The Lord Hates All People With Mental Illness" and another "Rape is Always the Woman's Fault." Very strange place.

    Really as a Christian and someone who has Asperger's, it is for us to have empathy and sympathy to those. Even for those that do not understand. You need to place yourselves in their shoes.

    The OP is as much a joke as the website if not more so.

    'They appear very strict' says the OP. Um, no, 'they' don't. In fact it appears to be just the opposite.

    Google the OP title and anyone can see that 'they' don't appear 'strict' in any manner of speaking.

    Yes, I know more about the place now. Maybe outrageous is the word instead of strict. I notice on their website for example they list those members who did not tithe. By the way, take Wikipedia with a grain of salt.

    The website is a hoot.....I especially like Pastor Deacon Whatever's commentaries (on Catholics, on Halloween, St Patrick's Day, Tithing etc. :Laugh

    Yea its a stretch (or is it really?!?) :Wink

    "Landover Baptist Church" is a satire of KJVOs, many of whom are indy fundy Baptists (As I am, but no one's gonna truthfully call me KJVO!), and man-made fundy doctrines in general. Of course, no such church actually exists! (Wish I could say the same for Westboro BC!)

    No. Jerry Fallwell and Liberty University were the targets. It was dreamed up by a guy who was expelled from Liberty University shortly before his graduation.

    When Landover Baptist first started, it was very different It was a generally "G" rated Christian satire site like the Wittenberg Door or the Babylon Bee.

    I don't know what happened since then but there appears to have been a pretty drastic change and now it looks like an atheist site set up to mock Christianity. It's a shame, too. It used to be pretty funny. Now it's just childish.

    It's a terrible place where God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Bible are mocked by non-believers pretending to be real - and when I say mocked - I mean there's some pretty sick stuff there.

    If all they did were to mock Christians, I wouldn't post here.

    There no redeeming value there - nothing comical, nothing that draws people to Christ, nothing moral, nothing virtuous.

    It's a vile place. Even their disclaimer says that the site is not for those under aged 18.
