First off, I know bias is endemic, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Nevertheless, I've been hearing discussion among pundits and pollsters that there's a decent chance for Clinton to win AND the Democrats to retake the Senate. (The House is pretty much safe, no matter what.)

For those on the conservative side of things, we might call this the "Nightmare Scenario."

What do you think will happen if this occurs?

Who cares? We are already living a "nightmare". The Senate is led by cowards and already give Obama everything he wants, except as noted before, Merrick Garland, and if Hillary is elected, they will give her whoever she wants, regardless of who has the majority.

Even as a minority, republicans could stop a supreme Court nominee...but they won't. They'll fold, as always.

The GOP couldn't stop a sink with a drain plug.

Let's see, they haven't stopped obama, but have tried over and over to try and stop Trump.

The remarkable thing is OP's like this and the elephant in the room being: 'Convince me of a good reason to vote Trump'.

    ...goodness sake.

I think the nightmare situation would be that if Trump continues to tank, and he deserves to, the House is still feasible. He's becoming just that toxic.

It didn't look like it was possible earlier this year, but if Trump continues to drive millennials and everyone else away, he will affect the down ticket.

I believe God is getting fed up with us spitting in His face. Every four years evangelicals, who are mostly in the GOP, seem to take this posture that we are the morally centered ones. But then we select as our candidate a Mormon who rejects Jesus Christ and an adulterous man who doesn't believe he needs to ask God for forgiveness and who fully represents the worst, most anti-Christ charactered person I've seen in a long time.

And we think God should bless us for worshiping our own golden calf? :Cautious

But when all of this happens, I think you're going to see folks double down just as they did with Obama. Hillary Clinton will now be enemy #1. She will be accused of being the worst President of all time before she does anything. The GOP will try to block everything she does at the behest of Sean Hannity and the Fox News crew. And her election and the Dems taking back the Senate and possibly the House will cause a lot of Christians who had already developed some very nasty, unChristlike attitudes over the last 8 years to get even worse.

And when the Body of Christ becomes as ugly and nasty in our attitudes as the rest of the world, all because we think politics is the way to change the culture war that we seem to be losing, it will be time for Christ to rapture us and get us out of the way so that we are not a stumbling block to the lost.

We're too wrapped up in using politics as a way to help us keep more of our stuff so that we can leave it to our kids and grandkids and it has made us look very unChristlike.

SO I expect the Body of Christ to continue to act more and more unChristlike as the result of this election because we will be made madder at the fact that Christians just can't seem to politically get what they want, while refusing to acknowledge the unrepentant sin that we double down on that got us to this point.

And God will get fed up with us Gentiles just as He did with the Israelites. But He has unfinished business with them.

For me it already is a Nightmare Scenario because regardless of who wins, be it Clinton, or a major come from behind Trump, we will have a president who despises the Constitution, and thinks they are above the law (One is just more open about those facts than the other). This election is just a sign that God's judgment is being poured out on the United States. Also, I think we will see much pruning done to the American Church, which I view as a good thing. So over all, this election is in God's hands and I can sit back, knowing that He has it all in control. As the book of Daniel shows, God rises and topples empires for His glory, and that is a wonderful thing to hold onto.

For you, perhaps God has predestined Trump for the rise of America from the pits of decline to teach those just sitting back a lesson of humility to behold and the only nightmare you will be facing is a steady diet of:

Only the Gospel can raise America from the pits of decline as you put it. There is no nightmare as you put it for me, because I know who is in control. I was just using the language of the OP to say that this election is a sign of much-needed judgment on the United States.

...and perhaps Christians having support for their voices for a change will help and is a positive sign of God's opening up the message of the Gospel in order to do His work of presenting "genuine" hope for all in His creation.

I have spent the last 2 1/2 years going through my personal hell so to speak, and I'm just coming out of the other side, and I will tell you one thing I have learned through this trial is that the Gospel is everything. Your sarcastic quotation marks around genuine are very telling to me and heartbreaking at the same time. There is nothing stopping Christians in this country from sharing the Gospel, except what we ourselves use as an excuse. Evangelist6589 is out on the street corner as much as possible it seems, we have countless pastors here who preach week in and week out. History shows what happens when the church and politics get in bed with each other. Pastor being able to endorse or not endorse a politician of their choice from the pulpit has not bearing on them, and the congregation sharing the Gospel with those around them.

It's not the nightmare scenario, what it is is a return back to the way things were done back in 2009 and 1993. The justice to replace Scalia will make Merrick Garland look like an arch-conservative, you will get amnesty and more illegal immigrants and Syrian refugees.

The situation in the Mid East will worsen, terrorism will spread and increase, cronyism and corruption will find a way to increase. Gun laws will be passed, maybe another stimulus bill or two that won't work this time, either. And Trump will have been the last viable Republican candidate, this country will be ruled by one party only at the presidential level for generations.

    HALLELUJAH!!!

That's why no one can tell me that one of the most unGodly men I have ever seen is the only choice for Christians.

BINGO! All this talk about what Christians won't be able to do if Clinton becomes President and the same folks aren't doing what we're supposed to do right now.

    Just a bunch of fear-mongering.

God is sovereign and just as He allowed the Disciples to continue to spread the Gospel during their persecution, there is NOTHING that any person at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue can do to keep a true follower of Christ from sharing the Gospel.

For those of us who know and love God it is extremely difficult to understand how another can turn their back on Him. But we who know His love also know, that God’s plan from the beginning was that all in His creation see and understand His eternal power and divinity so that they are without excuse and further that He will judge their response in truth and His judgment will be just. His offer of salvation is indeed “genuine” to all His creatures and it is equally heartbreaking for me to see those who have adopted a theology that some truly have no hope if they’re being honest and never did in their belief some weren’t preselected to have that ability to respond, when in fact they have come to this belief because they can’t deal with the thought that a loved one would reject loving the truths of God. I accept that there is no excuse, His judgment is in truth, just and based in His great love so believing in His wisdom and righteousness I find assurance and I trust that one day I will understand and be at peace with all His decisions.

    Back to politics:

So on one hand you say Trump being the president would be God’s judgment on the country as in we will all be doomed and on the other hand say there is only one thing important and nothing stopping us from spreading the Gospel except the excuse that the government can make any difference whatsoever.

Which is it, Trump is the worst thing that can happen to our country or nothing can effect or stop us? Sorry, [IMG] but you can't have it both ways.

And apparently following your same train of “reasoning”, the supporter [IMG] giving you the big “AMEN!” is saying on one hand it is all those silly Christians talking about they won’t be able to do things if Hillary president that are wrong and are simply “fear-mongering”, nothing more, BUT on the other hand he is saying if “ungodly Trump” becomes president he is in agreement with you [IMG] that it is a trial of God as in His judgment will be upon the country.

    Got it… [IMG]

Oh, I think I see where you would like to go with this, [IMG]Trump makes no difference and Hillary makes no difference, of course, unless Trump becomes the president [IMG]THEN this election is a sign that God’s judgment is upon us [IMG] and “He will prune the church for His glory, YES, praise Sovereign God that He is in control, [IMG] and for the upcoming preplanned wrath which is due to Trump will be a wonderful thing for us to behold! [IMG] AMEN!” [IMG] …and [IMG] just in case..let us be reminded, once again, that Hillary can simply make no difference. AMEN! [IMG]

Glad that got straightened out!! [IMG] But, if you two are so sure it makes no difference in any way pray tell why are you here continually, obsessively and biasedly attacking one side as the worst evil that can fall upon us??? Your two’s double-speak is seriously messed up! …

If you actually read what I said Benjamin instead of what you think I mean, you would know that I think it is judgement either way. Hilary will be used to judge this country just like Trump will be used to judge this country. As far as I am concerned they are 2 sides of the same coin. The only difference is that evangelicals are only lining up on one side of the coin to kiss the ring while shouting at those of us who see the pure hypocrisy of saying that Character mattered in the 90s for Clinton but doesn't now matter because now someone has an R after their name. But admitting that both are a sign of judgment is not something you will do, so to sooth your conscience you'll continue to attack those who refuse to compromise and that's OK with me, because the more you attack the more you prove me right about Trump and his supporters.

    Hi BW318,
the 2 biggest differences in "the lesser of 2 evils" between theses 2 EVILS is that one of the evils doesn't endorse the murder of babies and has promised to appoint justices to the SCOTUS who do not want to murder babies either.

If I am "forced" to vote for the lesser of two evils that would be the one I would cast my vote for.

I understand your objections and I respect your choice to vote for neither evil.

So if you don't mind me asking Hank. How is voting for Trump gonna lessen the murder of babies? The SCOTUS can't stop the murder of babies. They can only give their opinions. If the law is gonna be changed, it has to be done by Congress.

OK fine - whoever overturns Roe vs. Wade and baby murder is fine with me.
I personally don't want marxist and/or eugenics justices on the SCOTUS.
Hillary has these associations in her past and received the Margaret Sanger Award in July 2016.

    1) The SCOTUS gave the ruling in the first place presumably they can be asked to undo it (I don't care who undoes legalized murder).
    2) Also the more pro-life Justices the less likely pro-murder decisions will have to be made/remade and UNDONE by WHOEVER.
    3) Also Eugenics (ala Margaret Sanger) will most probably be next on the SCOTUS-Clinton docket to commit more genocide (murder) of "unwanted" human beings (i.e. the elderly, retarded, "Other unwanted _____ (fill in the blanks)".

The devil. "...He was a murderer from the beginning."
