Here is a link to the version:

One of the divides running through the body of Christ is the disagreement over whether our focus should be on changing individuals (leading them to Christ) or on also addressing "Christianizing" our culture to make it more to our liking. The folks on that side of the divide admire "social justice" where we take from the rich (currently called the one percenters) and distribute the wealth to those in need - godless communism.

Wanting what someone else has is covetousness, and our misleaders are propagating that as a thing to desire. You know, millionaires preaching to others about how wrong it is to be rich...lolzzzzz

I don't know much about this divide but there is nothing wrong with sharing with others, in fact if we don't the bible asks a question...

1 John 3:17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

Have I ever been burnt by this philosophy? Yes, but Jesus knows and understands.

It isn't sharing when it is taken, and when others are told they should get their fair share from others because they have more, which is covetousness. That isn't what the passage you quote is speaking of.

It isn't policy for a nation or country, it's for the church.

Well here in America that is theoretically true and I agree with you to a great extent.

However I grew up in a true poverty situation where we did receive assistance from both the church and the state.

I didn't care how or in what manner the assistance came or the method of extraction that was used in getting it because we (mother, bother, sisters) were truly in a life threatening situation.

Also, because of my past many Christians do indeed seem cold (at least with what they say) to me when it comes to sharing especially sharing with the "unchurched".

IMO It is the duty of the state to care for those who are destitute. My step father was arrested, convicted and imprisoned leaving my mother and 6 children in desperation.

BTW, the Catholic Church and the Free Masons were very generous in supplying us with "this worlds goods".

We lived in New Orleans and the State of Louisiana made the Salvation Army the distributors of surplus food of which we received a monthly allowance and a $9.00 month welfare check. No food stamps then but we certainly would have appreciated them.

We had to move and live into a vermin and seriously roach infested housing project off of Jackson Ave and Tchoupitoulas almost all the way down to the river.

The happiest time of the year was Thanksgiving and Christmas when the Masons delivered to us multiple baskets of food, clothing, toys and other articles including a huge turkey. Ya, I know they are godless satan worshipers (supposedly).

So, I also disagree to an extent. The poor (Not the self-imposed poor) should be helped by both the state and the church and other charitable organizations humble enough to help.

Should those whom the church does not assist be left by the nation of America to starve and die like in India?

    Such situations need immediate attention.

When you are starving you don't care where the bread came from. When you are freezing you don't care who owns the house.

I disagree that it is the state's duty to care for the destitute. I believe it is the family and the church's duty. But, unfortunately, too many people don't have a church to be their support structure, and all too many churches fail to care for the destitute.

Good for them. When I pastored in San Diego we gave, via our missions budget, to the St. Vincent De Paul Center run by Roman Catholic Priest "Father Joe." They fed, housed, gave clothing to, and provided medical and dental care, to the huge homeless population in San Diego (huge due to the nice weather, even in the winter). They also had a women's and children's shelter and family accommodations for families who were homeless in spite of the parent's best efforts.

Charity is its own reward. Those folks when home knowing there were 6 happy, well fed, kids and a content mom due to their care for their fellow men.

And Masons are not Satan worshipers. They're just Masons. :D

No. If the churches refuse to do their Christian duty then government is forced to step in. But when I see the multiplied millions of dollars that go into Lakewoods "Church" building, and their house, valued by some estimates at $12 million, it makes my blood boil. Sell all that, give the money to help the poor, let the Osteen's live in a camping trailer if they really what to serve God by serving their fellow man. Let the church break up into a 1000 home churches each with 43 people. No Hollywood style entertainment. No fancy lighting. No fog machines. See how many stay faithful.

Sorry, but you triggered one of my pet peeves. :D

I agree with this last paragraph.

Such a man is Jason Nightingale and his wife Sharon of Wordsower International. Perhaps you know of him.

    http://wordsower.org/evangel_arts/jason_sharon_nightingale

He stewards millions in budgetary money but spends it almost in its entirety on orphanages, widows houses, medical facilities, etc in India, Africa and Haiti.
He memorizes whole books of the Bible and "performs" at churches to gather, glean support.
He was a a professional thespian. Apparently God has gifted him with a near photographic memory.
He came to our local church and recited the Book of Job (dramatically) from memory and the Book of Revelation - a marvelous man.

Social justice is just a buzzword for those who want to have those who earned their wealth by godly means to habd it over to those who have not earned it, or to be willing to accept alternative lifestyles, or "blacj lives matter"//

There is indeed a mandate from the Lord in Bible to establish justice for all, and to provide for the true needy, but think that MANY time social justice is going far beyond those nabdates of his!

I have a dream today about social justice - not based on black racism and white guilt - but based on the equality of all, as Christ Jesus taught.
