If you accredit this [Edited at request of author] school that is a disgusting joke of higher education I and many others will lose all respect for you and the work you have done to improve your standing in the world of education. I understand it has been a hard battle up hill and you have never stopped getting better....until this.

This school has the worst faculty I have seen in a school that has managed to make it to candidacy. I was looking over the faculty listed as I am looking at doing another master’s degree and I started seeing faculty teaching with only an undergraduate degree. Some even list degree mills! What the heck! No way this school should have even made it to this stage.

    Dr. Paul Chappell – President

BA—Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College (Is this a joke?)

    MA—Louisiana Baptist University (Millish)

DD—Trinity Baptist College (Note that he fails to inform that this is an honorary degree.)

Dr. John Goetsch – VP (Teaches as Well)

DD—Maranatha Baptist Bible College (Note that he fails to inform that this is an honorary degree.)PhD—Bethany Divinity College & Seminary (Mill)

Dr. Mark Rasmussen -VP (Teaches as well)

Errm, in 2016, DD's are understood to be honorary degrees. So, they aren't labeled as such. This has been the case for well over fifty years.

Rick Houk -Chairman of Bible Department (Teaches full time)
    https://wcbc.edu/academics/faculty/rick-houk
    Education
BRE—Baptist Bible College (More than likely pre 2001 accreditation. This is totally disgusting to say the least having this guy as the head of the Bible Department with this level of education.)

    Diane Goetsch- Instructor—Education, Home Economics

BS—Maranatha Baptist Bible College (no masters?)

    Kathy Houk Instructor—Elementary Ed

BRE—Baptist Bible College (More than likely pre 2001 accreditation-RA and once more no masters?)

    John Tyler-Chairman of Music Department

    Education
    BRE—West Coast Baptist College
Masters in Church Music—West Coast Baptist College (Your head of a department, once more, has a unaccredited degree from your own school. How is he to measure a quality program?)

    Dr. Bryan Stensaas- Missions Instructor

    ThG—Tennessee Temple University
    BA—Tri-City Baptist College
ThD—Alameda University (This is a degree mill please see the wiki link)

I am stopping here because I could go on forever. I should have just read my Bible. These cases violate TRACS on rules on education levels at the schools they accredited.

Not everyone knows this, lay persons and new students would not. Nor would the public. Why would you list a degree unearned on your education listing? You are implying that you were educated and earned that degree is why.

I fear I must respectfully disagree. Please consider, that for a generation or so (late 40's to the late 80's), places which awarded earned doctorates were radioactive to many segments. That's not to say you don't have valid concerns. Most of West Coast's constituency would know the degrees were honorary.

Good grief it is not that those schools cannot be accredited it is that they choose not to because they believe the standards will decrease their ability to remain under biblical guidelines. Louisiana Baptist College is by no means "millish". In fact Liberty accepts credits from that school.

I'm only guessing but I would hazard:
    • It's located in Southern California.
    • It's not affiliated with SBC.
    • Its graduates, for the most part, stay in California. "Everyone" knows "real Christians" don't live in the devil's playground aka California.

    Thanks for the info

I read Paul Chappell and i have heard preaching from some students of this school and they are expository and fiery. I enjoyed them. I guess having papers trumps having the Spirit.

Is that why LBU listed an accreditation mill for sometime as there accreditation?

Is that why LBU lost multiple bids they pursued for legitimate accreditation? See you are implying they made the choice to fail their tracs accreditation.

Oh and they are a mill, a two page paper for an entire class?

Academic snobs think everyone is a "mill". They look for "mills" under every rock.

I am so snobby to expect a school to be able to meet basic standards, of which LBU was unable to do. I also expect LBU not to hire only their graduates. AS far as the school related to the thread is concerned, they have multiple faculty with life experience and horary degrees. Am I wrong to expect them to provide an education to me? If they don't have an education how can they provide me one?

then don't go there if that is your view and preference. One thing for sure here is that you have no established any truth that everyone should hold to. Just your opinion.

Why respond to my thread then? I get education is scary and bad. There should be no standards?

Why start it? Did you only want an expect those who would agree with you? If that is the case you are in the wrong place. I would like to be able to say that your intentional misrepresentation of what I have posted is beneath you but you are a newbie and I don't know that to be true. Maybe you should make it true before you try to do such stupid things. Have a nice day.

No, of course I did not expect people to agree with me. But I expected perhaps those that do not to say why. Instead I get a total avoidance of the legitimate problems this school and tracs have in this situation.

    Chris,

You've done legwork to get you answers you desired to have. That's cool. There are hundreds of schools to pick from. Pick one that accommodates you. Thanks for the info. Not sure i appreciate the "scum bag" school comment as it does not help me or others discern whether or not this school is a legitimate place of learning. I do know (from what i read of Paul Chappell) that They have a heart for the Lord, God's People and Seeking the Lost. They care about REAL ministry. They Care about equipping and edifying the saints. They care about The Word of God. They have a zeal to Train and send men of God into a real world of dying people, to preach the Gospel in its fullness.

Or, having both trumps either/or? :)
