I wanted to be sure that I came across clearly. I don't believe for a second that a person cannot understand or come to the proper conclusion without an advanced degree. However, a degree conferred by an accredited institution does grant extra credibility in academia.

I began studying Creation versus Evolution at the age of 9 (or thereabouts). Kent Hovind came to our church and did a week long seminar on the subject. I was mesmerized. I hung on to every word he was saying, and took his opinions as gospel truth. I've come to learn since that he is highly discredited in the scientific community, and a lot of what he has said over the years has been shown to be completely false or inaccurate. But that's a discussion for another time.

The three leading names in the debate right now (and of course, there are others; but this is based off of who I see on the internet and in atheistic videos of refutations) are Ken Ham and Ray Comfort. Ray Comfort has no degrees. He never pursued higher education. This makes him a nobody in academia. Hen Ham has a more impressive resume of degrees, having a BS in Environmental Biology and a diploma in Education. He has some ground to stand on, but not as much as what some would refer to as a "real" scientist. Environmental biology is a liberal science, meaning that students follow a core degree program, but basically make up their own emphasis. So, with an Environmental Biology degree, Ken Ham would have had to study a little about evolution, but may be just as unversed as a high school student. Or, he could have focused very heavily on it, and knows the ins and outs of it.

That's not to say I don't respect Ken Ham. I do. I like what he is attempting to accomplish. He is also a very skilled debater, and even took on evolution's poster boy Bill Nye (the science guy). Even atheists admitted that Ken Ham won the debate. One news article said, "It was easy to see who the smartest man on the platform was. Unfortunately, it was the guy who believes the earth is only 6,000 years old."

Now, degrees don't necessarily mean knowledge. But as I said, the give credibility. There might be someone on here who knows just as much about physics as I do, but have never taken a physics class. In academia, I will be listened to, while the other is laughed at.

So, I don't want to give the impression that someone who doesn't have the right degree is wrong. But if you're going to speak out about an issue, and you want to be heard, you'd better have the alphabet soup behind your name in order to be taken seriously.

Me, alongside with Andrew doesn't like different dominations.
In fact it doesn't really matter to what domination you are part of, as long as you believe and act on what's written in the Bible and have accepted Jesus and made him Lord of your life.

    Alphabet soup...
I'll agree to what Paul said:
    • ...and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,” Philippians 3:8 KJV
He was talking about his "worldly" accomplishments.
Dung is an old fashioned word for like putting up a cow exhaust on the wall.

I also trust God much more that simple human beings...
    • ”Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Instead take a look at the TV-Broadcasts I posted and listen to what the Holy Spirit is telling you.

    //God Bless, Richard.

Christians can discuss/debate Old/Young earth, how to understand genesis, as that would NOT be issues where salvation would be at stake, but if one holds to Word of faith doctrines, salvation might well be at stake, as many of those teachers have another jesus/Gospel!

Here's the issue: it doesn't matter what you think. It doesn't !after what I think. It only matters if you are credible to those who's opinions and thoughts you are trying to change. And that's what degrees do. They give you a certain credibility to the target audience.

We even hold to this in daily life. If you are sick, are you going to go to someone who claims to have studied medicine their whole life, but never went to college, or a person with an MD after their name? It's the same way with this debate.

Let me put it like this.
I believe Jesus doesn't like lots of different "doctrines."

    Let us look in Ephesians:
    • ”till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, ...”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:13-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I go by what the Bible teaches, I really doesn't like how "religion" puts it.
    • ”So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Instead listen to what the Word has to say and obey.

I don't wanna argue about creation with you...
    Instead I'll listen to Jesus:
    • ”But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.”
    ‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
And let the Holy Spirit guide!

    //God Bless you Babtists!

The point on this person though is NOT teaching the rwal Gospel and Jesus, that his theology is NOT from God, and he might hold to right views on Genesis...

I have kept up with Andrews teachings since he first came on radio MANY years ago. I have talked to him one on one several times. He is a genuinely sincere man. He is definitely not in it for the Money. He is Word of Faith, but he teaches the old WOF doctrines and not the highly bastardized ,God wants you rich, doctrines that are prevalent in WOF today. You could listen to him for a year or more without figuring out he is not a Baptist.

I personally subscribe to the gap theory. I had hang ups with young earth that arose from my reading scripture long before university science classes.(which for the record I believe are 96% crap) A Messianic Jew I know, who is a true Hebrew language scholar, says Jews have never believed in a young earth, it has never been their tradition, and that no native speaking Jew would interpret the creation account as young earth.

When a person declares "never" or "always" caution should be observed.
When a person declares "never" or "always" regarding an entire race of people; it should immediately be view as a "personal opinion" rather than a "concrete fact".

The fact is "Jews" are divided in their belief of a gap theory, just as Christians are.

We can only "guess" by a man-made measure of "how many" Jews or "how many" Christians believe or reject the GAP theory.

However the FACT remains; an individuals belief, is precisely that; per each individual.
What we do know is individual beliefs are based on the limit or extent of their knowledge and understanding.

What we do know is; The knowledge is revealed in Scripture; and the Understanding thereof, (according to God Himself), IS precisely the only correct Understanding. And further, it is ONLY God Himself that gives His Understanding to individual men.

No. Neither did I say you did.

I quoted your words, that you received from someone you know, and gave my opinion about your acquaintance's implication of speaking for ALL Jews, and your seemingly acceptance of your acquaintance's assessment.

I made a comment in regard to the The GAP THEORY that specifically includes a THEORY concerning the earths age.

So in other words, you agree with me, that the earth is young and that Jesus believed in a young earth.

I know you didn't say that literally, but that's how I'm choosing to interpret you.

Funny I take the opposite view. Just about every false teaching and heresy in the church today was born in a "Christian" educational institution. The moment I hear someone touting their "christian" degree a red flag goes up.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty good guys that came out of seminaries, but the fact is, they kick out a lot of arrogant know-it-alls, as well, that really don't know much at all, and are not willing to listen to anyone because they've earned a "degree."

The Genesis debate is a great example. The vast majority of our institutions reject the plain reading of Genesis in order to be aligned with modern philosophies of origins. Thus, the moment I meet someone touting a degree, the first thought in my head is, I bet they're confused about Genesis.

I believe in diligent study, but have to wonder if modern seminaries, modeled after the world's educational system, on the whole, are a good idea. Maybe it would be best to get back to biblical discipleship.

Maybe not, I could be wrong. There are good institutions like The Master's Seminary, etc., but there is something definitely wrong in most of today's seminaries.

    Jesus Himself said:
”But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.” Mark 10:6 KJV

The beginning acc the Word is this:

”In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
    Genesis 1:1 KJV

If you guys believe Jesus is wrong, there is really no point in talking to you.

Exactly. Christ himself believed Adam and Eve were created at the beginning of creation, not after a multiple billion-year gap. Simple and straightforward. But send a guy to seminary for several years, give him a doctorate, and Jesus' words can mean just about anything.
