Good evening all -

A couple of points stood out to me in the Leviticus reading tonight. One is the use of the term "scapegoat" in verses 8 & 10. What an interesting word origin and it came from casting lots. I had asked anbout casting lots and, thanks to Helen, noticed that it occurs throughout the Bible. We will see it again in the story of Jonah, at the choosing of the seven deacons, and of course, at the crucifixion.
The other thing that caught my eye is the Decree of the Feast of Trumpets in 16:29-34. I found a link on this holiday that some of you may find interesting: Feast of Trumpets

In Matthew we see the story of the rich young man. We see at the end of this passage that some rewards will be greater than others in Heaven, according to the sacrifices made by the believer in life. This concept of "first shall be last" echoes through the New Testament letters.

In Acts, we learn that if Paul had not made his plea to be seen by Caesar, he would have now been released. King Agrippa was obviously an open minded Jewish ruler and held to the teachings of the more orthodox Pharisees in believing in the prophecies of the Resurrection, as opposed to the more worldly Saducees who did not.
