More than 60 threats to Jewish centers across the US, authorities investigating

In the wake of 11 new threats today against Jewish centers, from New York to New Mexico, the FBI said it is investigating, along with the Department of Justice, bomb threats to the centers across the country.

Federal authorities are looking into threats communicated to at least 60 Jewish centers around the country this year. The threats started in January and the FBI began investigating later that same month. The threats have come in "different waves," with more threats phoned in to centers today, according to one source familiar with the matter.

Before the campaign and election this past year I thought we were pretty much over the blatant racism and antisemitism of the past. Sadly I was wrong. There is a deep, dark nasty underbelly in our society. It saddens me greatly this is true. Let's hope and pray our society will realize this sin within us, repent and welcome and live with all.

Why doesn't Trump give a straight answer to these questions? Why does he veer off-topic and attack the questioners? Insult the media? And then he starts talking in sentence fragments forcing the listener to fill in the blanks without really saying anything.

From a Q&A session last week:

REPORTER (a bearded orthodox Jew wearing skullcap): "What we haven’t really heard being addressed is an uptick in anti-Semitism and how the government is planning to take care of it. There’s been a report out that 48 bomb threats have been made against Jewish centers all across the country in the last couple of weeks. There are people committing anti-Semitic acts or threatening to——”

TRUMP (interrupting): "He said he was going to ask a very simple easy question, and it's not. OK, sit down, I understand the rest of your question. So here’s the story, folks. No. 1, I am the least anti-Semitic person that you’ve ever seen in your entire life. No. 2, racism, the least racist person. In fact we did very well relative to other people, running as a Republican..."

    REPORTER: <unintelligible>

TRUMP: "Quiet, quiet, quiet. See he lied about getting up and asking a very straight simple question. So, you know, welcome to the world of the media." [Note: The reporter never said any such thing.]
But let me tell you something....I hate the charge, I find it repulsive [Note: what charge?] I hate even the question because people that know me...and you heard the Prime Minister, you heard Netanyahu yesterday...did you hear him, Bibi? He said I've known Donald Trump for a long time, and then he said 'forget it'" (Trump waves hand dismissively.) So you should take that instead of getting up and asking a very insulting question like that."

    -------------

    From last week's press conference:

REPORTER: “Mr. President, since your election campaign and after your victory, we’ve seen a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents across the United States,” a journalist asked. “And I wonder what you say to those among the Jewish community in Israel, around the world, who believe that your administration is playing with xenophobia and racist tones?”

TRUMP: "Well, I just want to say that we are, you know, very honored by the victory that we had. 306 electoral college votes. We were not supposed to crack 220. You know that, right? There was no way to 221 but then they said there’s no way to 270. And there’s tremendous enthusiasm out there.

I will say that we are going to have peace in this country. We are going to stop crime in this country. We are going to do everything within our power to stop long-simmering racism and every other thing that’s going on, because a lot of bad things have been taking place over a long period of time. I think one of the reasons I won the election is because we have a very, very divided nation. Very divided, and hopefully, I’ll be able to do something about that. And I—you know, it's something that was very important to me.

As far as people, Jewish people—so many friends, a daughter who happens to be here right now. A son-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren. I think that you’re going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. I think a lot of good things are happening and you’re going to see a lot of love. You’re going to see a lot of love. OK? Thank you."

All right, he's taking it head on today. Good for you Mr. President.

“Anti-Semitism is horrible and it’s going to stop and it has to stop,” Trump told MSNBC during a tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

"This tour was a meaningful reminder of why we have to fight bigotry, intolerance and hatred in all of its very ugly forms," he said later. "The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centers are horrible and are a painful and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil."

How many of these threats are fake? Probably a lot. Faking hate crimes is a cottage industry for the Left.

You want us to believe some leftists went into a Jewish cemetery and knocked over some headstones?

I guess I could have used better wording.

The claim that these threats are fake is as credible as the repeated claims of fake news.

I got it. I was just kind of disoriented by the number of "Fake" descriptors.

The faked hate crimes usually revolve around garnering immediate attention. The random nooses found at colleges or the homosexuals who beat themselves up come to mind. (I'm on the phone, but can link to news if any doubt that these types have happened more than once in recent years).

Desecrating a cemetery doesn't seem to fit the victimhood MO.

You have a point about the hate crimes. I was thinking more along a line of phoned-in threats.

Nope...this is on me. Was sitting outside enjoying the warmth of this warm bit that we are experiencing, and started getting rattled by some jack-hammering going on across the road while I was composing my thoughts. 1/2hr continuous. Ugh...

Yeah, those are puzzling. I actually was going to a proctored test site after lunch, but the fire alarm in the building had went off.

Nobody wants to see the threats followed up with actual violence. But phone call threats threats, and cemetery desecration I suppose, seem like inherently juvenile acts. Something I'd expect from kids or a socially stunted internet troll. I pray that's all we're dealing with, but if it's more, hopefully the authorities will crack it before anyone gets hurt.

A disgraced former reporter was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Friday for several bomb threats to Jewish Community Centers, Jewish schools and Jewish museums around the country.

Juan Thompson, 31, was arrested in St. Louis by the FBI for making at least eight bomb threats and the cyberstalking of an ex-girlfriend.

Hmm...I guess the combination of the inherent antisemitism is Islam coupled with the leftist urge to create fake threats to further their narrative was just too much to resist. Poor guy never had a chance.
