Trinitarianism is an essential core doctrine of Christianity. Yes, Baptists believe in the Trinity.

Dust, please note, this is the Baptist only section. You must be a Baptist to post in it.

Also, I would recommend you visit the Welcome Board and introduce yourself.

Yes, as with all Christians, Baptists believe in the Trinity.

I'm wondering why you ask. Do you believe in the Trinity?

Okay, I see you are a Christadelphian. I know they do not believe in the Trinity. Christadelphians have some beliefs similar to JWs. They also deny the deity of Christ.

Yes. The idea that God is one God, revealed in three seperate and distinct, yet co-equal persons is one of the central tenets of Christianity.

I was just wondering. Sorry I posted in the wrong forum.

Incidentally, Trinity states that the Son and the Father are coequal. To disprove that:

    1 Cor 11:3

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God." KJV

"But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God." RSV

"and I wish you to know that of every man the head is the Christ, and the head of a woman is the husband, and the head of Christ is God." Young

    Head - Gr. kaphale

    metaph. anything supreme, chief, prominent
    a) of persons, master lord: of a husband in relation to his wife
    b) of Christ: the Lord of the husband and of the Church
    c) of things: the corner stone

    Vine's:
"metaphorically, of the authority or direction of God in relation to Christ, of Christ in relation to believing men, of the husband in relation to the wife, 1Cr 11:3"

Man has authority over woman (Gen 3:16). Christ has authority over man (Heb 2:8). God has authority over Christ (1 Cor 11:3).

Thus, they are not equal and the Trinity is false.

Your reasoning is off. It means that the Godhead consists of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You're confusing "equal" with "the same". A husband and wife are equal, but are not the same. Being of spiritial headship (as the Father is to the Son) does not imply inequality. A husband is spiritual head of the wife, but the husband and wife are not unequal, because they are one flesh. Likewise, the Father's headship does not in any way suggest that the Father, Son, and Spirit are not equal.

If St. Nicolas were here, he'd punch you in the face, just as he did to the heretic Arius in 325AD!

This shouldn't even be up for discussion...You'll be banned before the end of the day...

"Ho, ho, ho! Arius has been a naughty boy this year, so no presents for him!"

Dust, what do you make of Jesus' assertion in John 8:58, or Thomas' confession of faith in John 20:28?

    This was predicted in scripture:

"Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north" - Zechariah 2:6

You seem to have it backwards. The husband and wife are spiritually one flesh, but physically or naturally unequal. The Son and the Father are spiritually one, but naturally unequal.

When Adam said, "They shall be one flesh." Do you think he means that they will become physically one person? Of course not. They are spiritually one person. They are physically two persons, with the husband having authority over the wife.

When the Bridegroom (Christ) joins with his Bride (the Church), do you think they will physically all become one giant person? I am reminded of the alien monster in the movie Slither. No, they shall be of one spirit. But naturally, unequal.

"But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." 1 Cor 6:17
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body" 1 Cor 12:13
"For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father." Eph 2:18
"[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling" Eph 4:4
"...stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel" Phil 1:27
