Which is more important to your walk with the Lord?

Positional Holiness--"In Christ"--secured by Christ on the Cross eternally

Practical Holiness--things done to follow Christ and honor God each day

Of course both are important. However, the poll is designed to determine views of which is more important.

Good thread. I voted practical, because I think that should stem from positional, at least for a mature Christian.
A newer believer would most likely vote positional.

I am curious how you come to this conclusion?

I voted Positional because it is foundational. Without the Positional, the Practical is none other than filthy rags - i.e., we are still in our sins without the Positional. And once we are justified, if we forget the Positional, then we fall into legalism, pride and performance-based sanctification. (But on the flip side, if we downplay the Practical, then we can drift towards antinomianism.) The Gospel is not just for unbelievers only. The Gospel is for believers, too. I John 1:9 - 2:2.

Bottom line, both are important, but the Positional is foundational now and forevermore.

Based on ... "things done to follow Christ and honor God each day"

A newer believer may not know all the ins and outs of following Christ daily, as they are just starting to read their Bibles and pray. They still may have held over sin in their lives from the "old creation" and my not be keen on what honors God and what doesn't. They also may not have a grasp on the great commission and what is expected out of a follower of Christ.

I agree with Andy that without positional, there can be no practical.

I'm not sure that the question makes sense to me. My walk with the Lord IS practical holiness. But knowing the difference between practical and positional righteousness is very important to a proper understanding of scripture.

When it comes to eternity positional sanctification is key
When it comes to today it must be practicable sanctification which is only possible for those who have positional sanctification

Practical holiness takes on many forms.

    Matthew 25:35-36
35 For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

It would be to deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Jesus.

but what does that look like - what if you mess up along the way, I knwo you are still positionally secure, but what does that do to your practical holiness if anything

It is works done in the right spirit for the right motives. It is what we will be rewarded for (or not) at the judgment seat of Christ.

I've found if you have an argument about
OSAS = Once Saved, Always Saved -- a hundred will
    come & post.

I've found if you have a topic on 'How to do Good Words Better'
you can talk to your self :type:

    I voted PRACTICLE.
    I am also OSAS.
You will reach your OSAS goal.
But day-to-day walk with God depends on
    day-to-day holiness
