TBN Explains Why It Has Bumped Hal Lindsey's Program in December

    By Allie Martin
    December 8, 2005

(AgapePress) - A spokesman for the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) says a popular weekly prophecy program with a news format will return to the air early next year. But the show's host is still puzzled over its preemption this month.

Last week officials with TBN announced that Hal Lindsey's weekly television show International Intelligence Briefing, which examines current world events in the light of scripture, was pulled from December's lineup for two reasons: because it did not have a Christmas theme, and because it placed Arabs in a negative light. John Casoria, TBN's general secretary, explains the network's policy.

"We give our regular programmers the opportunity to do Christmas-focused programming [in December], and if they don't do so they get bumped to make space for other Christmas programming," Casoria says.

Explaining his company's decision, the TBN spokesman says network founder Paul Crouch believed that one of Lindsey's programs toward the end of November was "inflammatory towards Islam and towards the Muslims."

But Lindsey says this marks the first time he has been preempted for the entire month of December. He says his program has served as a warning about the true nature of Islam. "If you read the Quran, which I've done intensively, you'll find that it is not a religion of peace," he says. "This is why so many Muslims -- once they become really dedicated in reading the Quran and following the Quran closely -- they become radical."

He says he convinced there is a desperate need for Christians to learn the true nature of Islam -- and why that religion is such a threat. "It's a threat not only to Christians but especially to Israel," he asserts, "and they're determined to destroy the nation of Israel."

Casoria explains TBN does not want to censor Lindsey's show, but that it also wants to reach out to the Arab world with the gospel of Christ. "Dr. [Paul] Crouch [founder of TBN] believes the way to reach these people is not to inflame their senses against TBN but to show these people the love of God," he says, "to reason with them in order to bring them to at least an understanding of what Christianity is about."

Casoria says TBN plans to start airing International Intelligence Briefing again early next year.

I don't particularly like the Blasphemy Network that much, but that was the right move. Too bad they didn't can him for good. Not that this would have made them any less Blasphemous with their Word of Faith garbage, but at least they could have been a little less prejudiced. Oh well.

More than likely, he wasn't bringing in enough donations to make it worth their while. They would not get rid of Bennie Hinn no matter what his opinions were.

Lindsey is right. Islam is not a religion of peace. Good for him for sticking to his opinion.

Good point, and I happen to agree. There are several folks who broadcast on TBN who, for lack of a batter phrase, are anti-Islam, who are likely bringing in more $$$.

Hal Lindsey simply has no appeal, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why.

Excellent editorial by Hal Lindsey!! America needs to wake up--Islam is America's number one enemy. I am sure that there are terrorists living among us. I heard that they are crossing the Mexican border, using Spanish names, and it would not surprise me if they are also crossing the Canadian borders too!! If they have to be dishonest to enter the States, can they truly be trusted?

    Our battle is spiritual:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Islam is our enemy, not the indivdual Muslim. It is Satan that controls the Muslim--it is Satan who is in control of Islam. We do the Muslims no favor by placating them and tolerating their smokescreen of "peace". They need salvation, for they are lost souls in bondage to the enemy of our souls, Satan.

I think TBN was caving into C.A.I.R. when they removed Hal Lindsey from their programming.

    Thanks LadyEagle for those links.

It's pretty amusing that WND referrs to Lindsey as "the best-selling non-fiction writer alive today". Most of his works, including "The Late Great Planet Earth" are completle fiction. Anyone whose watched his "International Intelligence Briefing" knows it should be called the " International Ignorance Briefing". It actually fits in well with much of what TBN airs.

Years ago I actually heard Hal Lindsey give a time for Jesus' return. That date has passed.

Ever notice how many false teachers have come back on TV after taking a rest for several years?

Bumping out Lindsey is a good start. Bumping out Paul and Jan Crouch, Benny Hinn, and the rest of them, shutting down all the broadcasting equipment and locking the doors permanently would be even better.

By bumping out Lindsey for his views on Islam shows that TBN is caving in to the world's demands (whether one agrees with Lindsey's teachings or not).

    Peter said in Acts 5:29:
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)

TBN has ALWAYS caved into the world's demands of the almighty dollar. Acts 5:29 is irrelevant to the topic, since neither TBN nor Lindsey have demonstrated obedience to God over men.

    Here is an update,

    - January 3 - Hal Lindsey Walks Out on TBN
Hal Lindsey has wisely thrown in the towel at the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). He states in an article on my "Current Headlines" at www.olivetreeviews.org that he was going to be muzzled and not allowed to tell the truth about radical Islam. Thus after a twelve-year relationship with TBN, he was not able to get some elements of truth to the network leadership.
TBN again stated that it does not want to "offend the Muslim world as TBN has an outreach to Arabs." However, the Muslim world needs Lindsey and others with a national and international platform to be "in the face" to remind them that now all of Islam has a black eye because of the antics of the insane radicals. Lindsey never offended Muslims intentionally. He carefully drew a distinction between the radicals and non-radicals, although the non radicals remain pathetically silent about their brothers.

The bottom line is that Lindsey is a "watchman on the wall" trying to spare America and other parts of the West another 9/11.

So was TBN dishonest in saying Lindsey would be back on air in January? We may never know as it is Hal who quit because he was going to be muzzled. One of the few intelligent truth-tellers would be censored as to the most ominous issue of our day, the threat that Islam wants to take over the world via any means necessary.

Lindsey says, "I don't have to cast radical Islam in a bad light. If the intimidation and persecution of moderate Muslims makes radical Islam look bad, that is because it IS bad. It is not that I cast them in a bad light. But I have never cast the Arabs as a race in a bad light. I believe that as a watchman I must warn America and I must obey."

A TBN spokesman says the extremists have "hijacked the religion." It's time TBN did a reality check. A spokesman says, "We do not feel that the best witness is to bash them but rather to show them the nature of Christ through love and understanding." While it is always a good thing to show "the enemy" love, when elements of them are trying to take over the world, you have to talk frankly and bluntly to them and warn the world of their intentions. Few can do this as well as Hal Lindsey who has studied such issues for almost fifty years.

Lindsey is taking his program to other outlets, none named at this time, and video streaming on his Web site, www.hallindseyoracle.com sometime in February.

I do not feel good days lie ahead for TBN for shutting one of their true voices of truth, but better days lie ahead for Lindsey. I will discuss this issue and prophecy highlights for 2005 with Lindsey associate Jack Kinsella on January 14, a week from this coming weekend, on my radio show. More details will be available then. Consult my Web site, then "Radio Show" for listening options and cities. You can always "Listen Live" out of my home station, AM980 KKMS, Minneapolis/St. Paul, by going to www.kkms.com. It airs live Saturdays 9 to 11 AM CST with a complete rebroadcast on Sunday from 12 to 2 PM CST. We are prominent on air in all of Central Iowa out of AM940 KPSZ, Des Moines, St. Louis, MO and surrounding area on AM630 KJSL, Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area on AM 1330 K-Praise, Internet radio at www.oneplace.com, and of course Minneapolis/St. Paul and Western Wisconsin on AM980 KKMS, and always on our "radio archives" a couple days after the broadcast.

If you prayed Romans 8:28 in this situation as I did, I believe our prayers were answered. God works all things together for good.

We still are offering the CDs, tapes, and DVDs of Hal Lindsey and others at our "Evidences for the End Times Conference" this past fall. Six tapes and CDs are available for $30 plus shipping, and six DVDs for $70 plus shipping. See our Web site under "Our Products" or print newsletter, "Understanding the Times." The information there is timeless and the products have very cutting edge information about our times and the lateness of the hour. While I am not trying to makes sales off of this event, how much longer will we have this Bible prophecy pioneer with us and his frank truth-telling while dozens of other leaders cave to political correctness?

    Awaiting His return,
    Jan Markell

You may pass on these items or have people sign up on the "Home" page of our Web site, www.olivetreeviews.org. We update "Current Headlines" twice a day and you can access our radio programming from the last two years on "Radio Archives." Also see the Web site for other options to catch the program, "Understanding the Times," live and tape-delayed. Report e-mail address changes reporting old and new.
Please remember us prayerfully and financially.
Gifts are tax-deductible with receipts in January.

    1. Intelligent truth tellers? LOL. [IMG]

    2. Has TBN ever truly had good days while blaspheming the Lord. They are all a bunch of heretics looking for more money.

    3. Of course they are trying to cash in. Didn't you see the 6 DVD's for $70 plus shipping and handling?

    4. The Blasphemy Network is still as heretical as it always has been, but at least they are a little less prejudiced now. Good riddance to Lindsey. I long for the day when the same can be said of TBN.
