If found guilty, Hovind should definitely be spending time in prison. So should his wife, if the money laundering accusations are true.

    Sin is sin!

He claims to be an evangel, but he twists the Word of God to his own damnation! He is no evangel - he is a charlatan.

May God judge him ever so severely for bringing shame upon the Holy Name of God Almighty.

Agreed. I'm in the field of banking, and I'm very familiar with the regulations of the Bank Secrecy Act. I've studied them in two law courses, and I've conducted training sessions in them for bank staff.

(IMHO): If the prosecution claims are proven to be valid, the Hovinds were engaged in a willful, systematic effort to circumvent Federal laws- irrespective of his stated beliefs as to the legality of the Federal tax system.

I am really disgusted to see so many 'christian' brothers pouncing on a fallen brother.
Dr. Hovind has his troubles and ill conceived notions about taxes yet has done a great job in debunking evolution and preaching the Gospel. And the moment it is learned he has fallen, you vultures pounce!
    Sad.

Hovind is not a "fallen brother". He is likely a tax evader, as well as a purveyor of junk science.

On the contrary, I think it's a sad situation as well. It's not as if the Hovinds haven't had plenty of advance warning however. According to the charges and according to the testimony at their trial so far, their problems finally came to this outcome after at least 10 years of warnings & scuffles with the IRS.

I'm not happy to see their case being so publically detailed in the secular press either. Look at the field day that the Pensacola News Journal seems to be having over reporting this trial. They've published daily coverage of the trial since it began, starting with the jury selection. To the unsaved, the media coverage probably makes Christians (in general) look like a bunch of crackpots & scofflaws.

Be aware that "Dr." Hovind is every evolutionist's favorite creationist.

He serves a purpose. I knew he was a nut, but he inspired me to look further into creation science. I always knew evolution was a lie straight from the pits of hell. One can certainly gain greatly in faith, once they learn how completely they can trust scripture.

Kent provides entry-level answers, but he makes himself a target with his legal problems.

Curtis, don't be shy. What do you really think about evolution.

Never mind the creationists, there are still flat-Earthers out there. And a few months ago, I met a fundamentalist who denied that the Earth moves, because he takes the Bible literally.

Most Christians, even the ones who don't agree with evolution, know better than to call it a lie. Indeed, the basic theory of evolution used today was worked out by a guy who said that God created life.

Did you challenge the fundie for a biblical reference ? I believe when Joshua took Gibeon, niether the sun or moon moved. If they stopped, they had to be moving, and then, continue to move, after. So it looks like he ain't a fundie, at all.

And few Christians, that I have met, will entertain any talk of evolution. Just the liberal ones. On that case alone, I believe it's safe to say they work against true biblical Christianity. And it's a safe bet they are wrong on most other things as well. Not a jab, but a considered opinion.

I don't believe we evolved from apes, because the bible says God breathed air into the dust. Fire away if it makes you feel smarter than me. I trust scripture, moreso after hearing Kent Hovind. Not because he has the answers, but because he insipres qurestions.

Minor quibble: most evolutionary biologists classify us as apes who, along with chimpanzees, gorilla & orangutans evolved and diverged from a common pre-ape ancestor.

    Hovind brought this on himself.

On that I agree. He's his own worst enemy.

But in my early walk with Christ, this guy played a huge part.

I knew what he was talking about.

Psalm 96:10: Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved:

    The usual foolishness.

He's just consistent. He takes all of it as a fundamentalist.

The majority of the World's Christians admit that it is consistent with our faith.

Well, conservative Christians are still Christians. Not accepting the way God created life doesn't bar them from heaven.

Only if they elevate creationism to an idol, as some do.

Me neither. They are far too evolved in other directions to be our ancestors. We had a common ancestor.

I just took the time and effort to learn about it.

I really wish you would accept it all.

    (on Hovind)
Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Anybody with a brain should have known that Hovind's tax case was just a matter of time. He says that he doesn't owe any income tax. This has been tried dozens of times before. Anybody wanna venture a guess as to how many times the courts agreed with the defendant?

Bottom line: it doesn't matter how well you argue your case or how much evidence you have on your side. Once it's over, the judge will say "Yeah, well, you still have to pay income tax" and your posterior is toast.

    Arriverderci, Baby!

Well, Galatian, just a few points....

Kent Hovind, despite his numerous & obvious faults, never told anyone to ignore plain scripture. You have. Perhaps that verse may be better applied to you.

Second, your assertion that most christians believe evolution is compatable with scripture is pure speculation, completely unprovable, and is just a silly argument. Even if they do, then most christians would be wrong. Remember, straight is the path, & narrow the way. There will be few true believers.

Who or what was the "common ancestor"? Adam?

He's done worse. He's misrepresented scripture and made many believe that it is wrong.

That is a blatant falsehood. You know that I've never done that. I've disagreed with you on what it said, but you aren't God, are you? Be honest with yourself, at least.

I don't lie about what people say. So maybe it applies a little closer to home than you imagine.

Nope. Slightly more than half of the world's Christians are Roman Catholics. It is the view of Roman Catholics that evolution is compatible with God's creation. Likewise, it is so for the next largest body of Christians, the Eastern Orthodox. And for the Anglicans, and for many Protestant denominations as well.

    See above. Surprise!

    Pope Curtis I. Nope.

I bet they don't falsely accuse people. Try to do better.

A hominine. Which species is not certain. Perhaps another species of human. Why does it matter? Would God love you less, if you were only as smart as H. erectus?
