If the Sodomites are allowed to be married and their act of copulation is viewed as an alternative lifestyle how long will it take the Bible to be banned since it condemns these actions. Wouldn't it be classified as a book of hate?

We're currently doing a study of the Old Testament Tabernacle on Wednesday nites

One of the pieces of furnature was called the Laver---------which for Moses and the Hebrews symbolized the Word of God

Aaron and his sons would wash in its water before entering the Holy Place-----to which the Apostle Paul eluded to in the book of Ephesians chapter 5------of washing "in the water of the word" of the which you and I actually DO each time we read the word from the Word

Anyway----back to the Old Testament------over a period of time the Hebrews began to refer to the Tabernacle's Laver as "The Sea of Glass"----sometimes they'd call it "The Glassy Sea"-----or "The Crystal Sea"---sometimes the Prophets would refer to the Laver as "The Sea"

There are a few episodes from the Old Testament------in the books of 1 and 2 Kings---------an evil king named Ahaz---------took the "Sea" and decided to do away with it----by smashing it to bits--------then in the same book-------the Chaldeans did the same----they smashed "The Sea" to bits to try to do away with it

But their efforts to "smash" the "Glassy Sea" were vain-----in that Moses' "Sea" was merely a "Shadow" of the True "Sea" as Moses saw it on Mt. Sinai

What I am aluding to is this------------they can "do away" with the Bible--------BUT------in a real sense--------they CAN'T "do away" with the Bible--------because

The word from the Word----the "Glassy Sea"(our Bible)-----is an intricate part of eternity and is as eternal as its author----Jesus Christ-----study over the book of Revelation-------chapters 4, 15, and 21-----at the phrases referring to the "Glassy Sea"

King Ahaz and those Chaldeans------can smash and smash all they want-----and modern day Ahaz and those modern day Chaldeans and all the g#y perverts out there---wherever they are------can rip and tear and ban the Bible all they want------but the words are still there-----bound up in eternity!!!!!!!! Put it plainly--------long after the modern day Chaldeans are all layed in the ground(funeral-ized)-----the Bible will go on and on and on!!!!!!!

I suspect it is possible, not in the very near future.
Yes blackbird, it will go on and one, but not necessarily be legal to own, which has happened in other countries.

I think its going to get a lot worse. Can you imagine the sodomite community seeing this in the current headline?http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/may/19/ida-fossil-missing-link Its THEIR GOSPEL of No Judgment! Ironic though...I see it as a left over from the first Judgment...the FLOOD! BTW look at the bottom of the article and you will see posts scoffing our faith in Christianity. Goes hand in hand.

Wake up? Seriously? Give me a little more of your opinion than that!!! People on here get so defensive .. sheesh.

Anyway .. In my opinion .. The Bible isn't anywhere close to getting BANNED ..

I'm sorry, but sometimes we need to be a little realistic .. there are a lot of people out there who I'm sure would like the Bible banned or dislike Christians and Christianity in general, but it's been that way for a long long long long long long longtime .. and the Bible is still here. Just sayin'.

And that article is pointing to a military policy .. as much as I don't like what they did, they destroyed the Bibles b/c it was against their policy. Like it says at the bottom of the article...

Christianity isn't about being perfect.... but it is about being forgiven. My Bible is precious to me, even when it tells me I've sinned. Being Baptist is nothing ....... compared to claiming the 'Christ' name "Christian" and still being divorce and remarried.... and I'm guilty if that's as far as your faith will allow. However, I believe the Bible is true and its teachings are strict and to be taken seriously. I believe it calls me an adultress and it says adulterers cannot enter heaven. But that's not the end of the story.

Though Rahab was counted among the saints as her faith was counted for righteousness.... still she was also remembered as 'the harlot'. It is good that our sins, particularly our willful sins make us ashamed.... as we should be..... but if that shame only leads us to covering up and justifying ourselves and our behavior, instead of acknowledging our weakness and bringing it to God for his cleansing and forgiveness and submitting to his help to correct and/or heal.... then all the shame in the world and all the name calling or hidding of sin does nothing to help us.

It's not man's hatred which we should fear.... but God's hatred of sin and of those who chose to embrace the lifestyle of sin when God has given us a choice to turn from sin.... and though we have sinned.... to let him forgive and cleanse us, mold us and make us into creatures who can then live to glorify him. Before the Damacus Road experience, Saul thought himself to be lawful and upright and justified in his persecution of Christians. As the new man, Paul did not forget his old life, nor did he attempt to hide it nor justify it.... but let the contrast between the old and the new to become a glorifying testimony to the fullness of God's grace to those who acknowledge their sins and the fullness of faith in the finished work on the cross by which Jesus paid the price for our sins and brought us salvation.

No where does the Bible teach us to hate one another...... and nowhere does the Bible teach hate except for sin. The devil hates us all.... sinner and saved alike. The devil hates the sinner and uses deception and every form of excuse to block the truth of God and his Word and the grace which he has shown from entering the heart of sinner. The devil uses every tool to appeal to man's logic as to why God may not exist...or if he exists.... why he would not condemn man in the judgement: The devil will talk to all who are willing to listen to his stories and create doctrines which become a substitute for reading and believeing the Bible as God has given it to us. And we find it too easy to blame it all on the devil..... not realizing that since the first Adam, the seeds of evil are also within our own hearts.

Why else does Revelation teach..... that after the tribulation..... The devil and his angels will be locked away for 1000 years. Jesus will rule on the earth. What kind of rule will Jesus have? He will rule with a ROD of IRON. Why? Surely this would not be necessary if we were all submissive and accepting and honoring of his rule...... unless, somewhere in the depths of our nature, rebellion still exists. This is proven out, because at the end of that 1000 years, the devil will be released for a short while and will succeed in raising from amongst the people an insurrection against the perfect and just rule of God to wage one more last war of rebellion against God. It will be this last defeat of the devil and his evil kingdom which brings upon all that is evil the lasting judgement, and the perfect cleansing of the heavens and the earth and all which remain therein to live in holiness and righteousness to the glory of God.

I declare..... that to all who hate God..... their view of the Bible as being a book of hate springs out of the dross in their own hearts when they look into the laver. Their deception is in seeing their own hatered.... they don't perceive it as their own reflection but think it is a deception, a mirage, of another's making. As God hates sin..... so we are taught to hate sin: We hate sin because sin was the cause of our savior's sacrifice: We hate sin because sin separates people from God: We hate sin because though we have been forgiven, even small sins can creep into our lives and separate us from our first love and fellowship with our Lord. We hate sin because it can be so deceptive and enticeing.... if we loose our vigilance or walk in our own strength, we can become so easily entangled and find ourselves entrapped in a web which we know not how to undo.... and which our confrontation and ackknowledgement causes a feeling of shame....even when we know we can confess and repent. We hate sin because sin brings death and separation from God.

As in my acknowledgement in the first paragraph: Sin has its consequences.... and, though God may forgive us and receive us..... we may not be able to return to that former state of innocence. The person who is divorce may find it difficult to reconcile his need for companionship and submit to a life of abstinence. The person who remarries, may find that in making that his choice..... he must reconcile with God, his weaknesses and ask forgiveness..... and go on with the help of God to make his new marriage as sound and glorifying to God as he can. And, for those who took their first vows in innocence and in complete faith, may have to reconcile with the fact that it is highly unlikely that no new relationship will ever match the initial hope, love, and complete unfolding of submission and trust, which their innocence brought to the first relationship.

I sometimes think.... how much like marriage our lives were meant to be lived once we came to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ: He never leaves us..... but, sometimes we stray from his protection and constant fellowship which he offers... and follow after enticements along the way. While these experiences may work to teach us about our weaknesses, and teach us to relie on him.... if delayed or deceived and slow to recognize our faltering..... we build up an injury to our fellowship and relationship with our Lord, and the shame of our weakness steals away some of that initial joy and abandonment which we had when we first knew Christ. For this reason, discipleship of new Christians is so very very important...... and help offered to those who falter. That help can be seasoned with love and minister forgiveness in our Lord Jesus Christ.... but should also capture all the sternness and admonitions which the Bible gives us to follow in obediance and not to make a lifestyle of sin.

The Bible is not a book of hate. It is the whole revelation of God. It also reveals the heart of man. To those who are on their way to perdition, who see only the judgement of God and his hatred of sin....and therefore judge The Book to be a book of hate....it is because of the hate and rebellion which is unyielding in their heart. Unless the spirit of God breaks through that barrier.... there is no hope for the deception which they allow even when witnessed to of the truth. I don't see how a Christian can be a Christian and call the Bible a book of hate. In doing so..... they have judged as evil the very words which promised them life.... and God as evil in whom their security in faith depends. They need to check their own hearts and examine themselves carefully..... lest they be reprobates and cast out due to their own unbelief. Not everyone who says "Lord, Lord." will enter into the kingdom of God!

--> Your assertion needs to take into account that divorce and remarriage are allowed for marital unfaithfulness (Matthew 5:32; 19:9).

not all divorce is becasue of unfaithfullnes, those divorced for anyother reason are not allowed to remarry another person. it's become so easy in todays secularized christian world to accept divorce and remarriage, over and over.

--> Agree. I was simply pointing out that this ought to have been taken into consideration. It should have been qualified by adding something like what I have in the parenthesis.

If Baptists are allowed to divorce and be remarried (not having biblical grounds for it, i.e. marital unfaithfulness) and their infidelity is viewed as an alternative lifestyle how long will it take the Bible to be banned since it condemns these actions. Wouldn't it be classified as a book of hate? <G>

But if the unbelieving partner leaves, let him go. In such cases the brother or sister is not under obligation. God has called you to live in peace.1 Corinthians 7:15 Abandonment is one also.
