Here are some "labels" I would used to describe myself

    Independent Baptist
    Bible Believer
    Dispensational
    PreMillennial
    PreTribulational
    KJBOnly
    ****************************
    Saltys post now begins:

Well, labels only mean something when everyone agrees about the meaning
    For example

Independent Baptist dI am an independent Baptist - our local church is affilated with the Southern Baptist Convention

Bible Believer Catholics say they believe in the Bible

    Dispensational
PreMillennial all three - to what degree
    PreTribulational

KJBOnly If the King James version was good enough for the Apostle Paul, how come it wasnt good enought for the Pilgrims?

    Just food for thougth

John Bunyan wrote that labels such as Baptist have their origins in the pits of hell!

"And since you would know by what name I would be distinguished from others; I tell you, I would be, and hope I am, A CHRISTIAN; and choose, if God should count me worthy, to be called a Christian, a Believer, or other such name which is approved by the Holy Ghost (Acts 11:26). And as for those factious titles of Anabaptists, Independents, Presbyterians, or the like, I conclude, that they came neither from Jerusalem, nor Antioch, but rather from hell and Babylon;"

Kind of sucks that my post got taken out of context. The original thread had other people posting labels in it, and the second half of my post is missing, showing that I don't care for labels.

But hey, thanks for letting me know I am from the pit of hell.

To find out what you are talking about.
For example: You have AV1611 on you avatar - what does 'AV1611' mean to you?

I know that in the late 1980s when I started getting interested in different KJVs and how they differ, I got a page from the original KJV1611 Edition.

Here is a book that contains the KJV1611 Edition, if you care to know what I'm talking about:

    http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product/880222002?item_no=631609

    However, on this page:

    http://www.kjv1611.org.uk/

there is no picture of the KJV1611 Edition but they claim to use
// All scripture quotations from the Authorized Version, without apologies. //
so their AV1611 isn't the same as my KJV1611 Edition. How can two walk together unless they are agreed?

Please point to an AV1611 that I can check to see if it is like any of my KJVs. I have probably 18 or 20 paper KJVs. Best of all would be a pointer to a free KJV in electronic form (either a web sight or one which can be downloaded, preferable with a good search engine). Please make sure that your paper KJV and electronic KJV are the same. Thank you.

    Changed to correct pointer

// John Bunyan wrote that labels such as Baptist have their origins in the pits of hell! //

This thought of John Bunyan has little if any relation to the Bible or to Bible truths.
'Labels' do not 'have their origins in the pits of hell'.
However, the final destination of dumb and hurtful label users is hell. Hell is about the damned, not about what they do. So bad deeds can't come from 'the pits of hell' - but unrepentant deed doers are bound for 'the pits of hell'.

In the 21st century, it is not sufficient to describe oneself as simply a Christian. Mormons, Roman Catholics and Two-Seed-in-the-Spirit Predestinarian Baptists do the same thing, "Christian" tells us nothing about them, except that their religion is built around some kind of belief in Jesus, and they're not Jews and not Muslims or Buddhists.

"Christian" tells us nothing about their soteriology, their ecclesiology or their eschatology. The labels some Christian groups adopt are designed as a shorthand. If I'm on the road on and want to attend church on Sunday (or Wednesday), I look for a Baptist church, because I know our beliefs should be compatible. If I see a sign which says 'First Christian Church, I know to keep on going until I find a Baptist sign.

If I call myself a Pentecostal or Charismatic, you immediately have a general idea about their beliefs and practices.

2Co 3:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

Here is the same thing in easy to English

"Christian" tells us nothing about their teaching on salvation, their beliefs about the church or their views on end times prophecy.
