The Bundy family has vowed this morning to see Reid defeated, if not outright recalled, from his U.S. Senate seat.

The backlash to this "people's rebellion" from the liberal view is to claim that the BLM should have backed off to defuse the situation, with a caveat that the Bundys are, essentially, criminals. The liberals aren't using that word, but that is the implication of their language. They are defending Reid's comments, even though Reid has a vested interest in the outcome of this standoff.
Now, liberals are quick to claim this is all smoke screen. "The land sold to the Chinese is 200 miles away from the Bundys," they cry. "One has nothing to do with the other," they snivel. Even Snopes.com, the new flag-waving, banner-carrying champion of the socialist/Marxist movement, is leaping into the fray to "dispel the falsehood."

Yeah, yeah, sure -- gimme a break!

It's all federal land. The 600,000 acre preserve where Bundy's family has grazed cattle since 1887 was set aside for the "endangered" desert tortoise -- and animal the government is having to destroy 1,000 of every year because they are now overpopulated and becoming a nuisance.

A precedent is being set here by the Bundys. They are defying the very likely illegal declaration of any land being "federal" and available for sale to whomever the federal government decides is worthy -- that is, has the bucks. The land sold to the Chinese is also federal land, but as is required of all "federal land holdings" it isn't really in the hands of the feds. It is managed by the feds, but owned by the state in which the land is located, or the people of that state. They are the only ones who have the right to sell it.

But as is proven, Reid pressured Clarke County to sell the land far below market value. His son is the lead attorney for the Chinese energy company. But if the Bundys are allowed to exercise their rights as citizens of Nevada, the entity that actually owns the preservation land for the tortoise, and maintain "squatters' rights" they've held for the last 127 years, it puts Reid's sweetheart deal in jeopardy. Someone else in Clarke County -- its also where the Bundys live, it's a big county -- could rise up and challenge his son's deal on behalf of the Chinese. It could set a dangerous precedent, one that actually enforces the law as it is written.

Heaven forbid!! The "other little dictator" in the U.S. government, Commissar Reid, might actually lose not just this deal, but his power. We can't have that!!

I like what somebody on another board said: "Snopes is for people who are too lazy to Google".
