Praise II: Return of the Prayer Request

    On January 20th, I wrote this:
    Yes, the thread title is a bit facetious, but if you knew me you'd know that that's nothing new. So, here's an update.

    Praise

    I'm asking her to marry me this weekend. (Not to get married this weekend, but to be engaged) I already know she is going to say yes. I'd just like my brethren here at the BB to keep us in your prayers.

    The Prayer Request

    I was laid off at work today. I was one of about 15 who were shown the door. I'm actually glad. I was so stressed and frustrated at that job. I know I'll be alright. I've never seen God's people forsaken nor begging bread. When I was ten He made me one of His children, so I know I'll be fine. But remember me in your prayers while I search for a job. I'm about to have a wife that I desire to protect and provide for. I believe He'll see us through. But please pray for me.

    I'm so excited for you about you and your girlfriend and I will be praying that God will bring you to the best job where you can glorify Him and be a part of what He's doing - and will bring in a buck or two as well. ;)

    Are we invited to the wedding? I'll have to let my brother know so he can have the guest room ready.

    Same thing happened to me two 1/2 years ago. And the Lord provided.

    Thanks everyone...especially you, Salty.

    Everything went great. Our families were there to enjoy the moment with us. I had a couple of false starts where conversation died down and before I could make a move it started back up. But I finally took a knee and brought out the ring.

    We both cried, but I asked her to spend the rest of her life with me, and she said Yes! So we are officially engaged. Please keep us in your prayers. We both want to only follow after the will of the Lord.

    I was thinking about your chronology yesterday--you do realize that you got laid off from work on Friday and you asked your girlfriend to marry you two days later?!

    And she said yes!
