    Interesting article... maybe I ought to think about starting a college :tonofbricks:

    But I had heard that smaller schools in both basketball and football can make serious dollars for their school.

    Somehow seems to be an ethical question.

    Regarding football, there are a few other issues including up front costs and the real issue of getting your players hurt.

    In 2012, Savannah State opened the football season with road games at Oklahoma State and Florida State. Oklahoma State beat them 84-0. Florida State beat them 77-0 with a running clock in the 4th quarter.

    Savannah State made about 20% of their yearly athletic budget for the entire college in those two games, with OSU paying them $385,000 and FSU paying them $475,000

    And any mid-major is going to take the chance to play a top-tier school. It's more money and national exposure for the smaller school. And it gives them the chance to pull an App State or Georgia Southern.
