There is nothing fiscally conservative about a single payer system.

Not in its current form. If we had a true single payer system, it has a better shot than what we have now. A single payer system with uniform policies/procedures, set rates and volume discounts for medications, for example.

Few among us would doubt the system - as it is - works.

Sorry for the delay in my reply to you, it's been a busy couple of weeks.

Nothing the government runs (to include the military) is fiscally conservative.

I would not disagree with you on that, but the private healthcare system isn't working either.

Deal with the issue causing the problems rather than add more problems.

Agreed, and there appears to be disagreement with the issues.
    IMO, the issues are:
    1. The profit motive
    2. Lobbyists
    3. Volume pricing

I think it's safe to assume that point number 2 is a mountain too high to cross.....

    IMO the issues are:

    1. Excessive and unnecessary lawsuits

    2. abuse of insurance

    3. Government involvement

Point number one is an EASY fix:
Going forward, if someone sues or initiates a lawsuit that is determined to be fraudulent or frivilous, that person will be responsible for all legal fees incurred by both parties, as well as the court costs. Additionally, if the case is found to be fraudulent and/or frivilous, that person may be held in contempt of court, and could potentially face criminal charges.

Of course, we know the probability of that happening is very low.

Point number 2 is a good one, by the way. I would add that to my list as well.

    Regards,
    BiR

That is an excellent point, by the way.
