Is the "number of posts" seen to be a badge of prestige?

Greetings All, I'm still relatively new here and still feeling my way around in the dark. During a recent thread I started concerning definitions, I posted several words to be defined in separate comments as to perhaps (in my warped mind) make it easier for those responding to quote and add a definition.

A member commented that he thought I was just trying to "run up" my post count.

Is a high number of post equated with prestige of some sort?

From my observation a more accurate marker may be:
    HighlyReligiousMan
20,000 post club (but only 50 with any valid point not just slamming the person with another opinion)

    Thoughts?

Hey, TAlan, I'm sorry if you were offended by my comment about boosting your post count. It was just a facetious comment. I meant no ill will by it. I'm often trying to crack jokes and make light of situations.

Again, I meant no offense. Sorry, brother.

None taken, I'm a "big boy" anyways. I also like to attempt to be "cute". But my question is a legitmate one. What does the number of posts any one person has made have to do with the price of rice in China?

Is there a prize at some level?

I have wondered if some here think so, especially when they post half of a dozen news story links per day.

Beyond the tag line under your username changing to whatever "club" you are in, I don't believe there is a prize. I know I post a lot, but if you were around me in person, once we start talking church, the Bible, etc. I also talk a lot.

During the first thousand posts I was watching the number, anxious to get to a thousand.

But after a thousand posts they just seem to accumulate.

I'm sort of embarrassed that I have so many.

I like to see new people and hear new opinions.

I know I have a bunch but to be completely honest, I don't know HOW many I have! I guess I'll know after I post this.

    Ouch - 18,000+ LOL I think I need a life!

I think the biggest reason that people try to artificially up their posts are to be able to get into the private forums (I forget how many you need for those). Other than that, it really means nothing.

ah HA! A secret revealed, at last. I'll bet those private "secret" groups are full of Free Masons plotting to take over the world, animal sacrifice and stuff like that. bahhahahahah

Or women speaking of womanly things like knitting, cooking, loving their husbands and the best way to chop wood! ;)
