    I cooked a batch of chicken and dumplings. That's significant because I've never done it before. After my aunt passed away (the QUEEN of cooks), no one took up cooking them because they would never be as good as hers.

    I tried my best. They were a bit soupy, but good. Next time I will use less broth.

    I also made a gingerbread house for my 4th graders and went to school Thanksgiving afternoon to decorate my room for Christmas.

    Sadly, the candies and the gingerbread are as hard as lead, so the house will just have to be for decoration. LOL!!

    We went to my mom and dads for a day of thankful festivities. I purposely did not overeat and still passed out in the family recliner. Concluded the day with uno, selfies, and pumpkin pie. Always good times with family.

    We had about 20 people over. Played croquet until time to carve the turkey and eat. Homemade noodles are a tradition and always a big hit as well as a dozen pies to choose from for desert. After dinner the adults rode quads and the kids rode a minibike until sundown. Finished the evening with a bonfire and a glass of wine which is rare for me.

    Caught a bad cold.

    Still got to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner, though.

    Both my dad and my mother-in-law are still around and my husband is an only child so no siblings on his side. I have two brothers but both live out of town. So I drove my dad down to my younger brother's home last week for him to stay there for Thanksgiving and we went to visit my mother-in-law for Thanksgiving day. She lives in a retirement community with a lovely dining room (more like a nice restaurant dining room than a old people's home cafeteria) and we had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner then went back to her apartment to visit. It was a lovely day! The only drawback is she lives an hour and a half away so it's a bit of a hike.

    We played the host this year for the first time. I cleaned the house and moved furniture. Wife did an awesome job cooking. Teenage son made a fantastic french silk pie. Worked out great, but I'm not eager to volunteer next year.

    I made cheddar biscuits, Mrs. Curtis made deviled eggs and glazed meatballs. Brought them to the mountains of Huson and dined with friends. About 12 of us. After, we picked guitars and watched football.

    This is such an American thing, something that is outside my ken. I prayed for all the Americans that I know!

    I made dumplings recently as a first ever to go with a casserole, I was ecstatic they worked out, I think the secret is to keep them quite small due to the doughiness of them, very much a scone mix.

    I met my sister and BIL at GArden City Beach in SC (Very South Myrtle Beach) for a few days.
