After the last thread closed, DHK invited us to start another thread.

With the current "music" thread going on in the other forum and the "radio" thread going on here, I figured this would be as good a time as any.

I'm currently listening to Levon Helm's American Son LP.

Kind of wierd that the other thread was shut down for too many posts and the spin off thread hasn't gotten any posts.

Anyway, I'm listening to Dailey and Vincent - Dailey and Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers

    How about you?

I have that album...It's pretty good. I actually won it because I was sitting in the right seat at a Daly and Vincent concert.

I've been enjoying listening to "The Water and Blood" By Sojourn Music. (Isaac Watts hymns, volume 1).

Out of curiousity, is there a radio station in your area that plays classical music? There was when I lived there, but that was about twenty-five years ago.

    Sorry, almost forgot:

Yes. It's at 91.1 on the FM Dial. I forgot its call letters. Prior to that WPLN, the NPR station at 90.3 used to play classical music, but a few years back they switched to a talk radio format. That switch turned me off since most of it leans way too far to the left for my liking.

FM 91.1 is operated as a sister station to WPLN and most of their old music staff is still with them.

(BTW, the Beethoven I was listening to was on a CD, not on the radio. )

I remembered there was one when I lived there, but I know that many markets are having a problem with finding a place for classical music.

I had a show on the local community radio station and there was a huge outcry when we decided (not my choice) to get rid of the classical block.

Just checked WPLN's website. Their classical 91.1 station is WFCL.

As a side light, just within the last few days, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra's home (Schemmerhorn Symphony Center) was about to be foreclosed and put on the auction block by the bank. Then millionaire Martha Ingram lent them about $20 million to ward off the foreclosure.

Records From the Crypt with Billy Delle

It's a radio show from WWOZ in NOLA that plays old R&B and soul music from the 50s and 60s.

Glad that somebody likes classical music like I do. As love it and have up to twenty CDs over the genre.

I have been listening to 80s music - but just the music. There is a guy who recreates 80s sounds for the computer program my husband uses and so we've been having fun playing "Name that Song". :)

Add in a little Doobie Brothers because we just found out that they are going to be playing near us in July and we WILL be going. :D

Heading down to Williamsburg and taking Symphony 6 by Beethoven for the ride (and the almost-guaranteed traffic on either I64 or 60).

Ludwig and I are both treehuggers......
