And this comes out the week before the SBC Annual Convention...

    Brilliant I tell ya, brilliant...

Just to add, I've never been a fame of themed Bibles (the Army Bible, the Cowboy Bible, the Racers Bible, the Baseball Bible, the Pink Bible, etc) because they are, imho, a dangerous combining of a human theme against divinely inspired text. I also don't care much for study Bibles (and abhor the idiotic Patriot's Study Bible.) We need to keep the text central and not be worried about matching up the Bible with a theme.

Will they oppose the distribution of the Koran?

The KJ Study Bible I use is absolutely awesome. It has been an amazing tool, strengthening my faith in scripture.

I agree with everything else, though. Baseball Bibles ?

This is an ignorant question. They are not opposing Bibles, they are only opposing the Bibles that have the military branch seals on them as this makes it appear as if the military is condoning a particular faith.

People say that, but then deny that having the Air Force Emblem on a book about the history of the USAF makes it appear as if the USAF is promoting this book over all other books on the history of the Air Force. What is the difference?

The difference is that it's ok for the Air Force, or any branch, to endorse a history book, or a novel, or a movie. It's not ok to endorse a religion. endorsing a religion is one step towards a state religion.

But the Air Force is not promoting the book, the private publisher simply pasted the emblem on the dust cover for the book - I see the bibles the same way. The private publisher simply put the emblems on the books to sell them. It does not mean that the military is endorsing any religion. IMO, it is making a mountain out of nothing.
