Does he plan to pay taxes on the money he earns from the video?

The worst thing about people such as Kent Hovind and Greg Dixon (Baptist Temple, Indianapolis--now retired in Florida) is that the people who worked for them did not have Social Security paid on their behalf or withheld so that they lost all that time and may end up elderly or sick and ineligible for Social Security and not able to exist on the savings from the small wages that Hovind and Dixon paid.

Can you explain the difference between a 508(C)(3)(a) Exception and a 501(C)(3) Exemption?

Well, apparently Hovind does not seem to understand tax law.

I would like to ask preachers such as Hovind and Dixon whose picture is on the money? Everyone else in the country has to pay taxes on wages why should fundamentalists be exempt?

Hovind was on Wallbuilders the other day telling his side of the story. Sounds like an awful lot of Christians are champing at the bit to condemn a brother in Christ when they may not know the whole story.

I was really shocked at the details that were left out of the story.

I'm glad he's finally out. It sounds like he was the victim of a political witch hunt.

That is about what Dixon said also. Dixon wasn't even man enough to walk out of his church when the US Marshalls came to confiscated his broken-down junk building. He had to be carried on a stretcher like a lady who fainted. Dixon is just a money-lover. He couldn't get a crowd anymore as everyone left his church. He was abusive towards his own congregation. Not all fundamentalists are nice.

Wallbuilders is not exactly a bastion for truth. Evidently liars like to hang out together.

Both Dixon and Hovind were convicted of tax evasion in federal court.

In the case of Dixon, it was the people who worked for him who were hurt the worst because of their loss of time in contributions to their retirement. Dixon moved to Florida and apparently left them high and dry. Dixon said that he wanted nothing to do with government but when he lost his ratty building he tried to get a crowd to listen to him using Indianapolis Manual Public High School--so I guess he would accept government help if he didn't have to spend any money. His crowd dwindled to a very few so he himself retired to Florida and his son started another church in a better neighborhood. The son also refuses to pay taxes but the federal government became disgusted with the two Dixons and lets the son alone. The Dixons no longer have the power that they once had as their allies have either passed away or moved out of Indianapolis to nicer areas.

Dixon was a cheapskate. I once ate breakfast in a building across from the US Courthouse where he had people demonstrating on the Friday after Thanksgiving about 20 years ago. They were all very poorly dressed and it was a bitter cold day with high winds. None of them was dressed warmly for cold weather but they seemingly had to do what Dixon demanded.

A man who passed out tracts downtown Indianapolis for many years and who was a member of Dixon's church once told me that Dixon was a good preacher until he got mixed up in politics.

Indianapolis has changed with a huge influx of people from Chicago, Detroit, and Gary, and guys like Dixon no longer have a place in Indianapolis, which is now going the way of Detroit, except that downtown Indianapolis is now a h0m0sexual stronghold.

Yes. The exemption says you owe the money but you will be excused from paying it due to your ministry or other exempt activity.

An exception means you never owed the money in the first place.

From what I understand Hovind was convicted of "structuring" or withdrawing less than ten thousand dollars out of his bank account to avoid having to fill out extra paperwork for taking his own money out of the bank.

This "law" was invented to catch drug dealers laundering money. Strange that the to big to fail banks can launder billions of dollars in drug money every year and maybe get a slap on the wrist while an individual can go to jail for 8 years for taking less than ten thousand dollars out of his own bank account.

Have you ever drawn less than ten thousand dollars out of your bank account? Then you could be guilty of the same "crime" Hovind committed.

I also find it interesting that a guy that rails against socialism as much as you do would condemn another for not taking part in the much hated system.

    Notice I didn't say surprised?

How many here can say they led 800 people to the Lord in the last 8 years?

This is what was discussed on the Wallbuilders' episode.

The laws against "structuring" is a real problem and have been in the news a lot lately.

Good to be reminded what false teachers look like.

Sad that he can sit there and blithely lie about his conviction.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing that the same ones who will gladly condemn Ken Hovind are the same ones who will defend Ergun Caner to the death?

Most of his supporters don't know the full story either. It's not simply making withdrawals of just less than the threshold of $10,000 per withdrawal.

Failure to file income tax returns despite depositing in excess of $1M per year in banks, failure to obtain a business license, failure to register as a non-profit, paying people who worked for him with cash and not withholding taxes (workers are missionaries who work for God and therefore cannot be taxed, he explained ), claiming amusement park admission and merchandise sales belonged to God and cannot be taxed, filing for bankruptcy and falsely claiming the IRS was his only creditor, destroying subpoenaed tax records, etc. etc.

In other words, a tax cheater. Read Matthew 17: 24-27 to see what Jesus had to say about paying taxes.

I know what Jesus said about paying taxes. I also know what He said about gossip and slander.

And what does gossip and slander have to do with what I stated?
