DOZENS OF BUSINESSES MOVE HQS OUTSIDE AMERICA UNDER OBAMA

On Tuesday, Burger King announced that it would spend some $11 billion to buy Tim Hortons Inc., a Canadian breakfast food chain, then merge Burger King into it, thereby turning what was once a major American company into a major Canadian one. As the Washington Post reports, Burger King would “move the company’s headquarters to Canada, where corporate taxes are significantly lower.”

This process, called inversion, has been occurring more and more often, despite the fascistic suggestion by President Obama that headquartering outside the United States represents a betrayal of God and country.

Local TV news 10:00 o'clock news had a story about this with the teaser line, "How can businesses simply up and leave the country?"

Implication being that there was something illegal or underhanded about it. It's because the corporate tax rate is too high. Duh.

Well, if those businesses would just pay their fair share of taxes.....

With the anti-business climate of the Obama administration, I'm surprised more haven't moved.

    More probably will.

You did see the "half-truth" meter - did you not.

I just thought of something - all those illegals that Obama is letting in - is to make up for all those companies moving out.

Ain't it funny how when any criticism of OBama comes up and there is no defense of it the liberals have to try to bring in their criticism of some conservative in the same conversation. Of course in the case of this thread a DNC operative.

About as funny as the short memory of most conservatives have when it comes to how and why our country has been bled dry thanks to a hawkish President depleting a surplus to continue daddy's war. It's called perspective. Try and give it a shot sometime. The article about Burger King has absolutely nothing to do with Obama. Mine was a straight up fact.

Obama won and he's a disaster.

Disclaimer: Not an Obama supporter. Think he's a bad president.

US corporate tax rates have been pretty steady since 1990 or so. They've fluctuated up or down within a percent for the last 25 years.

Starting in 2000 Canadian corporate tax rates have been declining...drastically...16% in those 14 years.

The US is at 39.1% and Canada is at 26.1%.

There's the reason for business moving HQs to Canada...not Obama.

Yep. Read it again, the ruling was that he wasn't a "pioneer" so he didn't invent it but he sure used it to his advantage. Which is the whole point.

I work for the government in federal acquisition and have first hand experience that the socio-economic programs and small business initiatives are extremely beneficial to our market. The mentor-protege program has taken small firms and helped them grow into national firms. I would hardly describe those as anti-business. I have heard local Architect-Engineer firms consider these initiatives as a saving grace as they were able to compete more effectively for work. I have never heard any contractor complain to me about this being unfair, not even large businesses as they get their exclusive contracting opportunities as well. Burger King is going north because Burger King is horrible. There should be no argument about that.

See how it works everybody. That is called "having perspective." I can work with this. Burger King is going to end up regretting this. Their customers are already threatening boycott and none of the other comparable chains are considering doing this because they are doing fine.

Americans have a notoriously short attention span.

Long term, they won't pay a price from the public at all and their profits will increase.

And that's the crazy thing. Not a thing. These folks got an Obama fetish.

Businesses have been moving their headquarters out of the US well before Barack Obama became President as ITL mentioned because of our crazy corporate tax rates.

Crappy food is crappy food. If they had been as successful as McDonalds or Wendys, even Hardies they wouldn't even be considering this. They are getting their behinds handed to them by the competition so we get this desperation move. It is as simple as that. Stop serving food that barely stacks up to a middle school cafeteria and maybe they can compete again.

Hardees? Come on man...you gotta do better than that.

    http://www.qsrmagazine.com/reports/qsr50-2014-top-50-chart

    BK is # 5

    Hardees is #14

BK even beats Taco Bell, which is surprising to me.

BK needs to do something about that nasty meat and those awful tasting buns. But I guess that's the crux of their business.
