Is it any wonder that Libertarians can't win an election?

No, there's no wonder to it at all. The system is set up to keep corrupt corporatist warfare/welfare state authoritarians in and everyone else out.

Just the way you like it. So what's the problem?

You got the oligarchy you wanted so why do you feel the need to keep complaining about the "losers".

Hey you're a "winner" so enjoy your prize, before it eats you.

How does someone as liberal as yours truly end up liking what I hear from the Libertarians?

Now, if we could get the Libertarians, the Tea Party and the true liberals together and focus on those issues where we agree, we could generate some real change - something that many of us thought we were getting in 2008.....

The Libertarian Party's problem is they've never achieved the "success" of the Populist Party. That may be because they are unable to put together fusion tickets. Depending on the state, the Populists were able to ally themselves with either the Dems or the Reps.

You're absolutely right. We were all hoping for change - and in many ways Obama has been just a continuation of W's failed policies. Of course, he has devised new ones that are equally as bad......

I beg to differ. Lack of thought in the 2008 election is more likely the culprit. C'mon man! How is a guy whose never held a real job, done nothing in the form of leadership or statesmanship, an elitist with no "life experience" ever going to be expected to be presidential material? But no body asked those questions. They were overcome with BST Syndrome -- "bright shiny thing." It looked good, it looked pretty, they had to have it. Well, they got it, and look at the mess we're in now.

Translated to mean, "we don't mind big intrusive government so long as a republican is in office, it's only when a democrat is in office that we'll complain about it."

Sorry, but you are incorrect with this one.
The "mess we're in now" was - in some cases - started back during the Clinton Administration. The Bush 43 Administration REALLY made a mess of things, as this whole recession started with him back in 2007 and 2008.

Bush 43 is - hands down - the worst Presdent ever. Whether it's huge deficits, a genuine lack of regulation in several industries (not the least of which was banking), the torture issue, or two endless wars that we cannot afford, he is the worst POTUS ever, supplanting Warren G. Harding.

Unfortunately for all of us, that is going to change on January 20, 2017 when the current POTUS knocks Bush to 2nd place. Now we have even large deficits, more unregulated industries (which of course includes the whole Obamacare debacle) and more wars in addition to the two endless wars we already have.

We really needed FDR to get the country back to work - not an increase of the welfare state. Remember: with FDR, you had to work for that check. Look at all the roads, bridges, parks and buildings that are stll in use today that were a result of FDR. Obama claimed that was what was going to happen (the whole "BuildAmerica" initiative, remember?).

Ufortunately, when he came out to the podium with the seal for the "Office of the President-Elect," which doesn't even exist, I started to get skeptical.

Oh, well: at least we didn't elect a NeoCon like McCain.....

I don't know maybe having a McCain presidency would have been better?

Maybe then the left would have found their antiwar backbone they conveniently lost when the war mongering "Nobel Peace Prize" winner moved into the WH.
