Question

Is anyone familiar with this person or this ministry? They are coming to my town from 9/29 - 11/2 with a continuing series on "The Prophesies of Daniel & Revelation are rapidly fulfilling. If you would like to understand where we are in the light of Bible prophecy, a special series begins..."

I am just wondering because I'd like to go, but I don't want to subject to trash...know what I mean? Thanks!

Kathy

Hey Kathy, I did a search on the internet and here's a site I came up with. Looks like he's Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Go to: http://www.wordsight.org/net2000/meet-kenneth.html
that will take you directly to a page on him, then from there you can search out more on that site. Hope that helps!

I'm suspicious of anyone who treats apocalyptic literature that way.

It was never an area of expertise for me, but I just finished T.C. Smith's Reading the Signs and William L. Turner's Making Sense of Revelation, which I highly recommend if your interested in biblical prophecy.

Nicole,

You are right and If I'm not mistaken wasn't the Seventh-Day Adventist Church a group that actually set the date for Jesus' return back in the early part of the century and they were severly embarrassed because everybody dressed up and went to church and waited all day?

Also, weren't the Branch Dividians started when a man named Hoetoff (or something like that) broke away and started his own church and then after he died his wife set a specific date for the end of the world and she was wrong? She then took in David Koresh (not his name at that time) and let him sleep with her. Her son got mad at him when mamma died and he and Koresh had a shoot-out when Koresh tried to slip back into the camp and take over. etc.etc.etc.
We know the rest of the story.

Kathy,
Back to the thread, if it is seventh day adventists, they are well known for using prophecy to get attention of non-members. But, it is quite twisted. My advice would be to stay clear of it, just to make sure. If you are well grounded in your Baptist faith, then I see no harm, but if you are new, or experiencing any kind of doubts, I wouldn't go near it....just my opinion for what its worth.

Thanks everyone! I am well grounded in my faith Phillip, but I will stay away, I know what they teach is false, so I want nothing to do with it. Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me out with this one! God Bless!

Good decision. I often study other religions or cults and you sure have to be careful and do a lot of praying before you do, else a little element of doubt in the back of your head can start--Satan will use anything. I think this is the reason Jesus and Paul both made indications to stay away from un-Christian practices.

Funny thing, though, I read the book of Mormon----made a good novel, but I could see right through that thing without even a question; talk about a religion based on a poor document.

No doubt about that Phillip! It's a shame that more people don't see through it! It's also a shame that being a false doctine they have such faithful followers! That's one of the things that really convicted my heart and caused me to take the Evangelism Explosion course our church had and to get out with them witnessing. The morman's get out there faithfully and witness, and for the unsaved out there searching for comfort and answers, they are easy prey for satan! I was so nervous when I first joined our witnessing group, but after doing it a few times I found it so rewarding and at the same time challenging! A few years ago I could never have imagined myself doing it!!

NO JOKE, Many of my inlaws are Mormons and my wife and they have a real problem with us not agreeing with their false religion. My brother-in-law (wife's real brother) used to preach to me all the time. My wife got a real laugh about it because she knew I was born and raised Baptist and he thought he was really getting through to me.

I know this is off the thread, but does your church group send you out with at least one or more people when you visit? That is the way our church does. The more experienced members take the younger (or less experienced) with them and it makes it so much easier to have somebody make the initial contact and help get the conversation started--at least until you do it enough to where you are used to it. I'm proud to see that you would do something this difficult (I mean physically hard in getting out, etc.) You are a good Christian.

Kathy,

the Adventists use the "Revelation Seminar" as a front for their doctrinal crusades. The fact that they do not use their name in the promotion of the seminars should be a clue as to the honesty of their message.
