#3 for me, too. The autographa are inerrant, and only the autographa can claim to be 'without error'. Copied manuscripts, as well as faithful translations are 'infallible' and derive inspiration.

What does "inerrant in all faithful English translations" mean? The WEB Bible says that Paul and Barnabas returned to Jerusalem (Acts 12:25) and all the others say that they returned from Jerusalem. I believe the WEB Bible is correct. But are you saying, Ed, that all of them are still inerrant in spite of disagreement in this verse?

Here is Ed's multiple translation maxim:

If two versions of the scripture appear to
    say different things, either:
    1) God intended for both meanings to be true
    as instruction for us, or
    2) somebody misunderstands what God intended.

I beleive all translations are inerrant
    reflecting the original 'as written'
    inerrancy. The people here
have made me add the caveat:
Some alledged 'Bibles' are not worth of being
    alled real 'Bibles'
: specifically three that I have:

    1. NEW WORLD TRANSLATION (NWT) by the Watchtower Society (i.e. JW)
    2. THE MESSAGE by Peterson
    3. THE READER'S DIGEST BIBLE by the Reader's Digest

So i include the fudge phrase "faithful English translations" to exclude these 'loose' translations
Others will exclude all translations where
the 'dynamic equivalence' translation is used
to much (I note that there are dozens of
places in the KJV where 'dynamic equivalence'
is used; but nothing like the ten thousandss
of places where THE MESSAGE uses dynamic
    equivalence.
