Obama's verbal slip fuels his critics

    Christina Bellantoni
    Sunday, September 7, 2008

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Sen. Barack Obama's foes seized Sunday upon a brief slip of the tongue, when the Democratic presidential nominee was outlining his Christianity but accidentally said, "my Muslim faith."

    SNIP

"-- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come."

If Obama did say that and it was not a Freudian slip then it would be a Muhammadian slip

Hard to know anything about that - I can see anyone saying that with an implied parentheses as in my "Muslim faith." From the whole context it is obvious that Stephanapolous mis-corrected Obama. It was clear that Obama was saying, my 'so-called' Muslim faith while he praised McCain for leaving that aspect of the campaign out of it. Old George, not for the first time, is the one who stuck his foot in his mouth by poorly trying to do what he perceived as damage control and caught Obama off guard.

Here is the context from the link above, after George's ignorance showed itself.

Been so much anti-Palin nitpicking going on I guess its about time for some new anti-Obama nitpicking.

I'm a christian and would not ever make a 'slip' and say my muslim faith. As a christian it would never occur to me to say something like this and then try to cover it up. If he did say this, it is probably true, a christian just do not make a 'skip' like that.
I'd like to know when the Obama supporters here ever made a 'slip' and say my muslim faith, instead of my christian faith, make a claim to islam as a 'slip' instead of a claim to Christianity.
If the answer is never, then there you go.

It is clear that he never meant 'Muslim faith' the way he was being taken.

Look at this quote - that explains it:

I think even I have to agree with Roger and defend Obama in this ONE instance - I think he was just talking too fast and neglected to say "so-called" or "supposed" or something like that.

In reality we have no idea what he negelected or intended to say, all we really know is what he did say.

Barack Obama is a Christian. If he was a Muslim I would still support him and vote for him versus John McCain.

I believe it was just a misstatement. Much ado about nothing.

The Washington Times? Do you know who you're quoting?

The Washington Times was founded by the direction of Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon in 1982. In 2002, during the 20th anniversary party for the Times, Moon said, "The Washington Times will become the instrument in spreading the truth about God to the world."[4] At the time of its founding Washington had only one major newspaper, the Washington Post. The Post had been one of the leading critics of Moon's anti-communist political activism. Massimo Introvigne, in his book on the Unification Church, said that the Post was "the most anti-Unificationist paper in the United States." [5]

I have said it before and I'll say it again, I'm just so glad no one is recording me! Every time we get some kid who wants to record my lectures I cringe. I don't want my daily faux pauxs out there for the world. I don't think I'd make THAT mistake, but man, I've made some hum dingers. And truth be told, I'm a professional speaker giving the same prepared speeches over and over again - varying them slightly for my audience. Mistakes are easy to make.

It's another cut and paste directly from wikipedia under the heading of "Washington Times."

The funny thing is that BaptistBeliever wishes to discredit the report of Obama's gaffe by diverting attention to the Washington Times. However, it is all over the news. I saw it on my local ABC station (I think) on their 12 o'clock news today. I only have basic cable so it had to be one of the big three (ABC, CBS, or NBC) network's local news shows.

Oh no! CK4 made it clear to me the other day that if you cannot paste a link to it on the internet it never happened.
