‘Manchurian Candidate’ Starts War on Business

    Commentary by Kevin Hassett

March 9 (Bloomberg) -- Back in the 1960s, Lyndon Johnson gave us the War on Poverty. In the 1970s, Richard Nixon launched the War on Drugs. Now that we have seen President Barack Obama’s first-year legislative agenda, we know what kind of a war he intends to wage.

It is no wonder that markets are imploding around us. Obama is giving us the War on Business.

To the contrary, Congress is the ones who gave us this "Great Depression 2". It is CONGRESS who makes the laws that affect the economy, not any president, and ours for the past several decades have passed a LOT of bad laws. It was Congress that weakened lending laws to allow more people to buy houses, often ones they could not afford. It is Congress that recently passed the trillion-dollar "stimulus" bill, that defies logic in many ways. (Spending always SLOWS recovery from recessions, not shortens them! BTW, how does ACORN getting money "stimulate" the economy?)

Balance the budget, and watch the recovery! Of course, that is a pipe dream now, since the ones in control (in both houses and the presidency) now are "tax and spend" Democrats, who seem to want to put everyone into government welfare rolls, instead of truly helping them and seeing them succeed! "Tax the wealthy, take all of their hard-earned wealth, so they can't really stimulate the economy." (My words! Based on the mindset I see in our "leadership".

Why would any investor in their right mind risk capital in a business venture the government is determined to tax or regulate out of existence?

The stock market will continue to decline as Obama spends us into a full blown depression.
