Again, I ask, where is the immorality in killing these animals? There is none.

Your are welcome to that opinion JohnV but a few of us want to think beyond and outside the box to do the best to make it a last resort. Wildlife in
general is under tremendous stress all over the world.

bottom line the morality is mercy and trying to
attain it for these mammals ...so as our dominion
over them is perceived as wise and good. imho

What are the natural predators of these elephants?

Pretty much nothing preys on elephants.

This majestic animal is also one of the most dangerous zoo animals, and also dangerous in the wild.

    Indian elephant attacks.

And these above were Indian elephants. The African elephant is much more aggressive.

If we have to cull them to keep them away from human settlements, all right with me.

Elephant birth control, while a nice idea, will not do anything to decrease the population for the next 50 years. Additionally, I doubt they've had a large enough group to experiment on to prove that it is 100% reversable, so probably a combination of temporary sterilization and culling would be best to preserve the gene pool in case something goes wrong.

It's not opinion, it's fact. There is no scriptural support for the claim that this is immoral. The excess population of elephants is dessimating the local environment to a severe extreme. Our dominion over animals doesn, unfortunately, permit culling and population control. It's sad, but not immoral.
Lions and hyenas prey on juvinile elephants, controlling the population. Those predators are absent, and lack of any population control has resulted in a population that is twice what the envornment can sustain. It has been suggested that the adults be neutered, but the atrition rate of the existing population is so slow that it will take 50 years or more for the population to reduce.

JohnV I did not introduce the moral or immoral aspects all I am introducing is mercy and thinking
outside the box..I am on record that if it is law
and things are exhausted ..killing/culling would happen and I could not stop it..On record as saying
all wildlife is under stress..including animals that
are apart of the African elephants locale and environment...someone made a good point that the
African elephant has no major opposistion. And yes
this is my humble opinion ,knowing God has a way
of humbling me if I claim absolutes.

Still these wonderful majestice animals are well
liked by a lot of people..and all they are saying
is "have mercy"..."find a solution" etc

I once saw footage of an alligator, or something in the alligator family, stalking a baby elephant. The adult caught him, trampled him with his front feet, gored him several times, and lifted the carcass and threw it in a tree.

Elephants are truly awesome animals. This is a very sad story, indeed.

I understand and respect your opinion. I was responding to the more general audience, and not you as a specific. I personally feel culling the population iin this case is immediately necessary. It's sad, but necessary.
