Day Thirty-Five - Many have liked Fernando Ortega for a number of years now for his soft voice, and tasteful renditions of hymns... as well as his writing of new hymns for the church. This one, which could be used in worship, is one of the finest he's written lately.

    Our Great God
Fernando Ortega and Mac Powell (C) 2001 Dejamesolo Music

Eternal God, unchanging, mysterious and unknown,
Your boundless love unfailing, in grace and mercy shown.
Bright seraphim in endless flight around Your glorious throne,
They raise their voices day and night in praise to You alone!

Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God!

Lord, we are weak and frail, helpless in the storm,
Surround us with Your angels, hold us in Your arms.
Our cold and ruthless enemy, his pleasure is our harm,
Rise up, O Lord, and He will flee before our Sovereign God.

Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God!

    Let every creature in the sea and every flying bird;
    Let every mountain, every field and valley of the earth;
Let all the moons and all the stars in all the universe
Sing praises to the living God, who rules them by His Word.

Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah! Glory be to our great God!

    Day Thirty-Six

    Crazy
Mercy Me, Peter Kipley, Robby Hurd, And Chad Snipes (C) 2002 Simpleville Music

Why would I spend my life longing for the day that it would end?
Why would I spend my time pointing to another man?
    Isn't that crazy?
How can I find hope in dying with promises unseen?
How can I learn Your way is better in everything I'm taught to be?
    Isn't that crazy?

I have not been called to the wisdom of this world
But to a God who's calling out to me.
And even though the world may think I'm losing touch with reality
It would be crazy to choose this world over eternity.

And if I boast, let me boast in filthy rags made clean,
And if I glory, let me glory in my Savior's suffering...
    Isn't that crazy?
And as I live this daily life I trust You for everything,
And I will only take a step when I feel You leading me.
    Isn't that crazy?

I have not been called to the wisdom of this world
But to a God who's calling out to me.
And even though the world may think I'm losing touch with reality
It would be crazy to choose this world over eternity.

    You can call me crazy.

    Day Thirty-Seven

    Arise, My Love
Eddie Carswell (C) 1987 Mike Clark Music and Lowery Music Co.

Not a word was heard at the tomb that day,
Just shuffling solders' feet as they guarded the grave.
One day, two days, three days had passed.
Could it be that Jesus had breathed His last?

Could it be that His Father had forsaken Him?
Turned His back on His Son, despising our sin?
All hell seemed to whisper, "Just forget it, He's dead!"
Then the Father looked down to His Son and said:

"Arise, My love, arise, My love,
The grave no longer has a hold on You!
No more death's sting, no more suffering,
    Arise, arise, My love!"

The earth trembled and the tomb began to shake,
    And like lightning from Heaven the stone rolled away;
And, as dead men, the guards stood there in fright
As the power of love displayed its might.

Then suddenly a melody filled the air
Riding wings of wind it was everywhere.
The words all creation had been longing to hear
The sweet sound of victory so loud and clear:

"Arise, My love, arise, My love,
The grave no longer has a hold on You!
No more death's sting, no more suffering,
    Arise, arise, My love!"

    Sin, where are your shackles?
    Death, where is your sting?
    Hell has been defeated,
The grave could not hold the King!

    Arise, arise, arise!

    Day Thirty-Eight

    Awesome God
Rich Mullins (C) 1988 BMG Songs

Oh, when He rolls up His sleeves, He ain’t just puttin’ on the Ritz,
Our God is an awesome God!
There’s thunder in His footsteps and lightning in His fists.
Out God is an awesome God!
And the Lord, He wasn’t jokin’ when He kicked them out of Eden,
It wasn’t for no reason that He shed His blood,
His return is very close and so you better be believin’
That our God is an awesome God!

Our God is an awesome God, He reigns from Heaven above
With wisdom, power and love, our God is an awesome God!

And when the sky was starless in the void of the night,
Our God is an awesome God!
He spoke into the darkness and created the light,
Our God is an awesome God!
The judgment and wrath He poured out on Sodom,
The mercy and grace that He gave us on the cross,
I hope that we have not too quickly forgotten
That our God is an awesome God!

Our God is an awesome God! He reigns from Heaven above
With wisdom, power and love! Our God is an awesome God!

Day Thirty-Nine - Posted early for Friday.

The Day He Wore My Crown
Phil Johnson (C) 1978 Justin Time Music

    The city was Jerusalem, the time was long ago;
The people called Him Jesus, the crime was the love He showed.
    And I'm the one to blame, I caused all the pain;
He gave Himself the day He wore my crown.

    He brough me love that only He could give, I brought Him cause to cry;
And though He taught me how to live, I taught Him how to die.
    And I'm the one to blame, I caused all the pain;
He gave Himself the day He wore my crown.

He could have called His holy Father
And said, "Take me away, please take me away!"
He could have said, "I'm not guilty,
And I'm not gonna stay, I'm not gonna pay!"

But He walked right through the gate and then on up the hill,
And as He fell beneath the weight, He cried, "Father, not my will!"
    And I'm the one to blame, I caused all the pain;
He gave Himself the day He wore my crown.

Day Forty - Posted early for Saturday

    God's Own Fool
Michael Card (C) 1986 Sparrow Song

It seems I’ve imagined Him all of my life as the wisest of all of mankind.
But if God’s holy wisdom is foolish to men, He must have seemed out of His mind.
For even His family said He was mad, and the priest said, “A demon’s to blame!”
So God in the form of this angry young man could not have seemed perfectly sane.

When we in our foolishness thought we were wise,
He played the fool and He opened our eyes.
When we in our weakness believed we were strong,
He became helpless to show we were wrong.
And so, we follow God’s own fool, for only the foolish can tell,
Believe the unbelievable and come be a fool as well.

So come lose your life for a carpenter’s son, for a madman who died for a dream,
Then you’ll have the faith His first followers had,
And You’ll feel the weight of the beam.
So surrender the hunger to say you must know, have the courage to say, “I believe,”
For the power of paradox opens your eyes and blinds those who say they can see.

    Day Forty-one

    I Am
    Jill Phillips (C)

Oh gently lay your head upon My chest
And I will comfort you like a mother while you rest.
The tide can change so fast, but I will stay
The same through the past, the same in future, same today.

I am constant; I am near,
I am peace that shatters all your secret fears.
I am holy; I am wise,
I'm the only one who knows your heart's desires
    Your heart's desires.

Oh weary, tired and worn, let out your sighs,
And drop that heavy load you hold 'cause Mine is light.
I know you through and through; there's no need to hide.
I want to show you love that is deep and high and wide.

I am constant; I am near,
I am peace that shatters all your secret fears.
I am holy; I am wise,
I'm the only one who knows your heart's desires
    Your heart's desires.

Oh gently lay your head upon My chest
And I will comfort you like a mother while you rest.

    Day Forty-Two

    Let Them Hear
Ginny Owens (C) 2002 BMG Songs, Inc.

I have no words to offer, they simply get in the way.
When I try to explain You, there's nothing sacred left to say -
You are who You are, and You always will be,
    So here's my prayer:

Let them hear You through me, let Your words be mine.
Let them see that Your love is the reason I'm inspired.
And when given the choice, may they recognize Your voice.
Let them hear You through me, O Lord.

I don't have all the answers, all I know is what You've shown,
And I'm longing for those moments when You'll make Your mysteries known.
'Till then, I will be who You've called me to be.
    So again, hear my prayer:

Let them hear You through me, let Your words be mine.
Let them see that Your love is the reason I'm inspired.
And when given the choice, may they recognize Your voice.
Let them hear You through me, O Lord.

And may I always know that words are not enough.
Let them hear You through me, O Lord.

    Day Forty-Three

    On My Cross
Jeromy Diebler (C) 2001 New Spring Publishing

How wide is Your love that You would stretch Your arms and go around the world?
And why for me would a Savior’s cry be heard?
I don’t know why You went where I was meant to go.
I don’t know why You love me so.

Those were my nails, that was my crown, that pierced Your hands and Your brow.
Those were my thorns, those were my scorns, those were my tears that fell down.
And just as You said it would be You did it all for me.
And after You counted the cost You took my shame, my blame on my cross.

How deep is Your grace that You could see my need and choose to take my place?
And then for me, these words I’d hear You say,
“Father, no, forgive them for they know not what they do.
I will go because I love them so.”

Those were my nails, that was my crown, that pierced Your hands and Your brow.
Those were my thorns, those were my scorns, those were my tears that fell down.
And just as You said it would be You did it all for me.
And after You counted the cost You took my shame, my blame on my cross.

    Show Me Your Glory
Tai Anderson, Brad Avery, Marc Byrd, David Carr, Mark Lee and Mac Powell
    (C) 2001 New Spring Publishing

    Caught a glimpse of Your splendor in the corner of my eye;
The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
And it was like a flash of lightning reflecting off the sky,
And I know I’ll never be the same!

    Show me Your glory,
Shine down Your presence, I wanna see Your face!
    Show me Your glory,
Your majesty shines about You, and I can’t go on without You, Lord.

When I climb down the mountain and get back to my life,
I won’t settle for ordinary things.
I’m gonna follow You forever, for all of my days.
I won’t rest ‘til I see You again!

    Show me Your glory,
Shine down Your presence, I wanna see Your face!
    Show me Your glory,
Your majesty shines about You, and I can’t go on without You, Lord.

    Day Forty-Five

    Who Am I?
Nathan and Christy Nockels (C) 1997 Rocketown Music

Over time, You've healed so much in me and I am living proof
That although my darkest hour had come, Your light could still shine through,
And though at times it's just enough to cast a shadow on the wall.
Well, I'm grateful that You shined Your light on me at all.

Who am I that You would love me so gently?
Who am I that You would recognize my name?
Lord, who am I that You would speak to me so softly?
Conversation with the Love most high, who am I?

Well, amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see.
And the more I sing that sweet old song, the more I understand
That I do not comprehend this love that's coming from Your hand.

Who am I that You would love me so gently?
Who am I that You would recognize my name?
Lord, who am I that You would speak to me so softly?
Conversation with the Love most high, who am I?

    Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within.
    Grace, grace, God' great grace.
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

Who am I that You would love me so gently?
Who am I that You would recognize my name?
Lord, who am I that You would speak to me so softly?
Conversation with the Love most high, who am I?

    Because of Who You Are
Billy Smiley and Bob Farrell (C) 1982 Paragon Music Corp

You spoke the words and all the worlds came into order,
You waved Your hands and planets filled the empty skies,
You placed the woman and them man inside the garden,
And though they fall they found compassion in Your eyes.

O Lord, I stand amazed at the wonder of Your deeds.
And yet a greater wonder brings me to my knees:

Lord, I praise You because of Who You are,
Not just for all the mighty things that You have done.
Lord, I worship You because of Who You are,
You're all the reason that I need to voice my praise,
    Because of Who You are.

One holy night You brought Your promise from a virgin,
    And promise grew as He revealed to us Your heart;
Enduring love displayed throughout His crucifixion, And in the dark You tore the grave and death apart.

Day Forty-Seven: Sorry I'm a little behind. I had a wedding this past weekend. I should get caught back up today.

    Be the One
Al Denson, Don Koch & Dave Clark (C) 1990 Paragon Music Group

In a world full of broken dreams where the truth is hard to find,
For every promise that is kept, there are many left behind.
Though it seems that nobody cares, it still matters what you do,
'Cause there's a difference you can make, but the choice is up to you.

Will you be the one to answer to His call?
Will you stand when those around you fall?
Will you be the one to take God's light into a darkened world?
Tell me, will you be the one?

Sometimes it's so hard to know who is right and what is wrong.
Where are you supposed to stand when the battle lines are drawn?
There's a voice that keeps calling out for someone who's not afraid,
To be a beacon in the night to a world that's lost it's way.

Will you be the one to answer to His call?
Will you stand when those around you fall?
Will you be the one to take God's light into a darkened world?
Tell me, will you be the one?

There are still some battles that I must fight from day to day,
Yet the Lord provides the power for me to stand and say:

I will be the one to answer to His call!
I will stand when those around me fall!
I will be the one to take God's light into a darkened world!

    Will you be the one?
    I will be the one.

    Day Forty-eight:

    Faith Like a Child
Dan Haseltine (C) 1995 New Spring Publishing

Dear God, surround me as I speak,
The bridges that I walk across are weak.
The frustrations fill the void that I can't solely bear.
Dear God, don't let me fall apart,
You've held me close to You but I have turned away
And searched for answers I can't understand.

They say that I can move the mountains,
And send them falling to the sea.
They say that I can walk on water
If I would follow and believe with faith like a child.

Sometimes, when I feel miles away,
And my eyes can't see your face,
Well, I wonder if I've grown to lose the recklessness
I walked in light of You.

They say that I can move the mountains,
And send them crashing to the sea.
They say that I can walk on water
If I would follow and believe with faith like a child.

    (Kids)
    Be kind unto others.
    Call Jesus Christ Your Savior.

They say that I can move the mountains,
And send them crashing to the sea.
They say that I can walk on water
If I would follow and believe

They say that love can heal the broken,
They say that hope can make you see.
They say that faith can find a Savior,
If you would follow and believe with faith like a child.

From YOD, page 1, Message of the Cross. I like it, but have one comment.

This is the message of the cross, that we can be free, To hunger for heaven, to hunger for Thee,
"The cross is such foolishness to the perishing,
But to us who are being saved, it is the power of God!"

When I read being saved, it really did not set with me correctly because we are not being saved, we are either saved or we are not saved. I think being saved is something we have to do(i.e., works) and we all no that is wrong.

Check the doctrine of soteriology. "Being saved" is what sanctification is all about:

    1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

    2 Corinthians 2:15
For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

</font>[/QUOTE]Though I don't know what version you are using except that it may be from Westcott and Hort, because they liked the Catholic church, which is evident in their version of the bible because of being saved is something that the Catholic church believes in (i.e., works). The King James say that you are saved, not a process, look..

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us [/b]which are saved[/b] it is the power of God.

2 Corinthians 2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
