The American people are the most drugged people in the history of the planet. Illegal drugs get most of the headlines, but the truth is that the number of Americans that are addicted to legal drugs is far greater than the number of Americans that are addicted to illegal drugs. As you will see below, close to 70 percent of all Americans are currently on at least one prescription drug. In addition, there are 60 million Americans that “abuse alcohol” and 22 million Americans that use illegal drugs. What that means is that almost everyone that you meet is going to be on something. That sounds absolutely crazy but it is true. We are literally being drugged out of our minds. In fact, as you will read about below, there are 70 million Americans that are taking “mind-altering drugs” right now. If it seems like most people cannot think clearly these days, it is because they can’t. We love our legal drugs and it is getting worse with each passing year. And considering the fact that big corporations are making tens of billions of dollars peddling their drugs to the rest of us, don’t expect things to change any time soon. The following are 19 statistics about the drugging of America that are almost too crazy to believe…

    Rev 18:23
    23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee;
and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee:
    for thy merchants were the great men of the earth;
for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

    What a hokey article.
It’s a variation of the prosperity gospel.

The article is a scare piece meant to push you to believe things are bad and getting worse.
The author seems to encourage you to stop taking your medications and just believe - use your money to buy their book instead of your medications, things will be better.

Sure there are a lot of prescription medications (call them drugs if you want).
The cracking of the human genome has opened the door for researchers to develop new ways to treat our ills. The result is an explosion of new specialty medications. And that’s not a bad thing if you are the one that needs the medication.

    1) The author uses the phrase, “legal mind-altering drugs”. The term “mind-altering” connotes psychedelic euphoria and senselessness.
That’s not the way most of those medications work.

    2) As the population ages, depression becomes more common.

    3) No one can deny that these medications are over-prescribed.

prophet, presumably you know that the root of the word "sorceries" in this passage is the Koine Greek word pharmakeia.

You don't think it's real? With everything we touch and eat being polluted with chemicals and dyes, you think it's not affecting everyone from conception?

Everyone wants to scream it's the parenting, but kids are coming out messed up, and they eventually grow up. You can't grow a kid with artificial dyes and chemical additives in their food, bring them into the world to have more of it, breathing polluted air and drinking contaminated water that's been bleached out and recycled from your toilet, and think they're going to be okay. And they DO have a habit of growing up and then they're your adults...

People were raised with different types of parenting before and didn't have these issues. I'm SO tired of hearing stories about kids killing their parents, shooting up places, turning into criminals, and everyone wants to hang the parents. About the massive number of mentally and physically ill, and everyone acts like it's not new, just newly being recognized. That's not true. It's mostly new because new stuff is being thrown at people and the government says it's safe and everyone trusts them. And they shouldn't.

Then they try to fix it with pills that are said to be safe.
Wonder why I'm for medical marijuana? A number of others in my support group for what I have are being prescribed methadone for chronic pain and nausea. They would like to try something not as harsh, like vaporized (not smoked) low THC marijuana instead, but they're not allowed. We're supposed to trust that methadone is more safe.

So yes, I'm one of those that rejects medication even when "needed." I've found that given enough pain, you either pass out or your body does this wonderful thing and floods itself with its own pain relievers. I refuse to be on methadone or regular narcotics. I tried one (not meth) and my kidneys bleed. No thanks!

Maybe, just maybe, if everyone focused 10% of the cure energy on prevention, we wouldn't need 90% of the "cure." What would happen if we had honestly pure water and if they simply stopped putting dyes and chemicals in the food we buy? What if people weren't ingesting this stuff three times a day and then some? Wouldn't that be amazing if we found a way to knock down the majority of that crud we constantly ingest? I wonder how pure and healthy kids would be if they were able to develop in the womb and as kids without all that stuff? Gotta wonder how much those toxins and such mess with their developing nervous systems and all that.

The drug companies would sure take a big hit though, if we ever put a stop to the crud.

It's the expression by the fringe left membership of this board to get us to rationalize that marijuana is better than prescription drugs. That's why it's hokey. This guy is dangerous to the weaker brothers' and sisters' Christian walk. I can't imagine why they let him hang around.

ITL, it is a mistake to associate a longer life with a healthy life.

ITL - is there a similar chart that shows amount of "legal" drug usage?

As drugs become more prevalent - "healthier living through medication" - is there an indication of the amount of drugs being prescribed that correlates to the lifespan chart?

Unfortunately, that depends on your definition of "healthy."

So we've had an increase from 43% of the population to 48% who have been prescribed at least 1 drug; and from 6% to 10.7% of those who are taking 5 or more prescribed drugs ... and during the same time frame, life expectancy has raised from about 76.5 to ~78.

Not a true cause-and-effect, but interesting nonetheless.

My next question would be, how about those percentages of required vaccinations?

Don, I'm no expert on prescription drugs, but common sense tells me that there are some miracle drugs out there that are allowing people to live near-normal lives whereas in the past they would be suffering. Just look at asthma medications. Years ago people would be practically home bound by asthma. Now, thanks to medications--expensive, yes--they can live near normal lives. The use of statins to control cholesterol or anti-coagulants to control blood clotting and therefore strokes, are life saving medications.

I do agree that physicians are too quick to prescribe drugs when there are alternatives. But to paint all prescription drugs with a broad brush of condemnation is wrong.

Not arguing that. If I were to take the graphs and the observations I stated above at face value, I'd state that during the time period when prescription drugs have increased, life expectancy has increased, thus supporting your statement.

But at the same time, we should also be wondering: Are we creating a drug-dependent population?

I think it is true that as prescription drugs get better and better that life expectancy increases. I also think we are becoming a drug-dependent culture. It seems people believe that almost anything can be cured by taking a pill.

I could care less, I speak English.

But, I used to look up words in Strongs, and it said that, so yes.
Interestingly, a study of the word "pharmakeia" led me to see that it was never translated into any language as "medicine".
In French, it becomes the word that translated into English is "poison".

I looked into the medicinal practices of the Greeks, and found the philosophy that birthed modern medicine: "Let food be your medicine, let medicine be your food".
I also found that there was another prevailing philosophy, that of Rome...burn, cut, poison...which was considered witchcraft, or more specifically, "scorcery".

As Rome subjugated the Orthodox "Christian" world, the homeopathic Hippocratical ways of medicine were abondoned to the superstitions of RCC and the Dark Ages fell.

Today, the 1st world nations have once again split, into 2 factions, and the U.S. Gov.sides with Romish Sorcery, with extreme prejudice.

I have 8 children and a wife, that have never seen a doctor, and they are rarely ever sick, and recover quickly. I, on the other hand, was immunized regularly, and really hammered, when I enlisted in 1990. I am very susceptible to the common cold, often ending up with pneumonia.

Sorceries...you take this shot, because people die from this disease...mind control...give people poison to "heal" them, and warn them of the "dangers" of natural ways...yup, Sorcery is the right word.

In the Bible it means mind-altering drugs used in idol worship and used in witchcraft ceremonies.

    You're jumping to wrong conclusions.
