The Reagan-Carter comparision would be valid if Obama was behind right now. Carter was the incumbent and Reagan the challenger. In this election, because of the way Obama and his media allies have framed the debate, McCain is the incumbent and Obama is the challenger. The challenger is ahead right now, which doesn't bode well for the incumbent. At this point, I'd give McCain a 10-1 shot at winning.

Sure hope they took care of their "chad" problem. We may be counting again.

That particular method of voting is a stupid one.

Alabama for years has used the "fill in the arrow," electronically-read machines. It is just about the easiest and least controversial method there is.

Having said that though...I still come back to the late 2001 and 2002 news reports that were largely ignored. Bush won Florida in 2000, using whatever metrics one could choose.

Now...should they ditch the punch cards? Absolutely.

However, my estimates (quite uneducated ones, granted) are that it won't be that close. I'm afraid Obama will carry FL by 100-250K votes.

Obama do not peak to early

    Obama 357
    McCain 181

The strong Jewish vote in Florida is now overwhelmingly going for Obama, I think McCain/Palin scares them with religious extremism on her part, plus her ties with AIP and Pat Buchanan, they do not see her as Israel friendly(rightfully so).

but I put that on McCain and his judgment to pick her, her political career may be over, not because of democrats but self inflicted wounds and predatory republicans(Gingrich, Romney).

Obama , I hope is not peaking early but needs to keep the momentum up, then Montana and North Dakota will be blinking blue very soon.

His 30 minute buy on major networks should seal the deal, plus the enormous ground game that has empowered so many.

Just Out: Obama Up by 14%

This was just stated on the NBC evening news. I know many of you would rather live in Fantasy land but this is reality.

If it is reflective of the whole then it only shows that many Americans are living in the great fantasy of government salvation and are ready for bigger and faster steps into the sinkhole of socialism.

Yes, it is appearing that he will win, and many of us will have to spend at least 4 years hating the president. I may write a couple hundred rude letters to the WH and quite a number to editors... but maybe it is our turn.

You'll be called a racist. And probably spend time in a detention camp for a hate crime.

So Obama will win. We won't have the same policies; we'll finally have some change.

With a Democratic congress and a Democratic president. who knows what we'll be able to get accomplished over the next 4 years?

Let's face it, folks: The people said they wanted a king, and God gave them Saul. Americans are saying they want a change, and we'll get Obama.

Pieces are in place all over; do we have the eyes to see, and the ears to hear?

Yeesh, I'm gonna have to put my military retirement on hold until Jan 2013...unless, Lord forbid, he gets re-elected....

I can tell what will be accomplished, NOTHING. Politicians do not care about everyday folks like you and me. They come out and tell us what we want to hear and then we get them elected and they do nothing until it is time to lie to us again. demoncrate/republican they are all they same.

Universal health care Aint going to happen.
Lower Taxes for us and higher taxes for the wealthy, aint going to happen.
Pulling out of Iraq with in six months of ANY administration, aint going to happen.

The list goes on from both sides. Someone tell me one president that kept all his promises, or even half of them.

This is an ELECTION folks. Remember that once evry four years we vote for President of the United States? It's the center piece of our democracy. And you so-called patriots are trashing the institution. Would you rather have a dictatorship? I'm sure the Neo-Cons would gladly go along with that.

No, BB, the DNC fraud (as posted on other threads) in selecting Obama as the Democratic candidate, ACORN's and Obama supporter's fraudulent voter recruitment and the election fraud to come in precincts across America have trashed the institution. :tear:

What are the details of the poll? What was the percent of Dems polled vs the percent of Republicans. I saw one of these polls yesterday that showed BHO up by 10%. However, when you looked at the poll details you found out that they polled 1000 people broken down in the following numbers Dems 39%, Repubs 30%, and Indep/undescided 9-10%. Meaning that the 9% greater number of Dems polled accounts for nearly the entire supposed 10% BHO lead. It is bogus polling data and means nothing. They are misleading you with phoney numbers based on poll data designed to arrive at a pre-determined outcome that they report as "Breaking News.":tonofbricks:

    Point Proven

With the hate mongering and mob mentality at McCain/Palin rallies and people like
Adkisson who claim to be insane, your post, shows the mentality of what the repetition of right wing ideology twisted mentality represents division when people are looking for consensus, thankyou for helping me make my point, Barack Obama will overcome that with the help of God and Holy Spirit, he may be our next FDR and Michelle our next Eleanor in times of either great recession or depression caused by the current President who ran this nation into the ground with deception and cronyism. I will give him a 50/50 chance and expect this board to fight him all the way, but I think it will backfire on them, as he will be like Clinton in management and be a moral as Harry Truman in his personal life, he will gather the best and brightest around him, he will travel the world and increase the peace quotient, he will reduce abortion by half, he will put people to work within the nation to rebuild our nation. People on here will wish him to be killed because they are so inflamed in emotion, perhaps it is abortion or it is so called socialism but make no mistake President Obama will President of all Americans just not one side or the other.

There are a lot of polls. This one was taken by NYT/CBS and the details can be found here:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27188680/

This poll finds that McCain slipped big time when he went extremely negative.

Another poll shows only about an 8% Obama lead in the popular vote but a much larger lead in the electoral vote (approaching a runaway).
